Veronica's breath hitched as she stared at his emotionless silver eyes. He was trouble, she could feel it!
"He's going to get you in trouble, Aurora. I can promise you that" She muttered then hastily moved away from him and rushed out of the room.
Aurora walked up to Xavier and grabbed his arm, turning him back to her.
"You didn't have to stand up for me. Veronica has always been like that and although you seemed to have scared her now. I can assure you she's going to come back for me" Xavier furrowed his eyebrows.
"Then stand up for yourself. If you have to then kill her" Her eyes widened then she bursted out laughing. When she saw the seriousness in Xavier's face, she coughed awkwardly then scratched the back of her head.
"I don't know how it works in your realm but I can't just kill her" He tilted his head.
"Why not? If anyone talked to me or treated me the same way Veronica treated you, they would have gone to meet their ancestors twice" Aurora giggled.
"Well, she's my sister. I don't know if she sees me as one and although I don't love her as much as a sibling should, she's still my sister and I would never try to harm her. Plus, look at me, if I try to attack her, I'll be the one dead, not her. She knows I'm weak and I can't fight back. That's why she always picks on me and my parents can't see through her schemes and…. I'm sorry for rambling. Forget I said anything" She muttered softly and was about to turn away from him when he grabbed her hand.
"You're not rambling. As a matter of fact, I think you should talk about how you feel often so you'd feel better" She turned to him with a frown.
"Even if I talk, no one will listen. My parents are there for me but they won't listen, no one ever does" She murmured with a sad look in her eyes which rubbed Xavier off the wrong way.
He cussed himself in his head knowing he was going to hate saying what he was about to say.
"I'm here, you can talk to me" Her eyes instantly brightened and the corner of his lips tilted upward a little.
"Really? And you'd listen?" He nodded.
"Well I'm kind of forced to since you summoned me here so talk to me" She grinned and without thinking about it, she jumped into his arms, wrapping her arms around his shoulders.
"You are the first person that I genuinely feel free with, you know? I don't know why, I'm supposed to be scared of you and I am but… I also feel safe around you. Does that make sense?" She Murmured then pulled away from him to stare at his face but there was nothing. No expression she could read, no emotion, nothing.
She frowned slightly but it was gone in a flash as a smile appeared on her face again. She needed to remind herself that Xavier wasn't like her. He couldn't possibly understand what she was saying because he had never felt the way she felt about him with someone else.
"I'm sure Veronica is going to tell my parents about you being in my room and they are probably going to lock me up in a tower or something just so I can be away from you. I should probably listen to them and stay away from you then maybe this feelings I have for you would disappear but I…" She paused having caught some kind of emotion in his eyes but it was gone in a flash.
Did that mean he was the one blocking off what he was feeling from his face so she couldn't read him?
She let out a sigh then moved away from him.
"You should probably return back to the cave before my parents arrive. I don't want them disgracing me in front of you" She muttered as she walked up to her bed and took a seat.
She turned to him and saw that he was still standing at that spot, staring at her.
"You shouldn't love me, Aurora. You're only going to get hurt" He muttered and before she could say anything, he vanished leaving her devastated.
She let out a sigh as tears ran down her cheeks. What did she expect him to say that he loved her back? That was something that was never going to happen in this lifetime.
She plopped down on her bed and decided to stop thinking about Xavier and just focus on getting stronger so she could stand up for herself.
Just then, her door was pushed open and her parents and Veronica walked in.
They glanced around then turned to her with a glare while Veronica had a smug look on her face.
"What is the meaning of what Veronica told us? Didn't I tell you to stay away from that demigod? He's dangerous" Nikolas yelled making Aurora sigh.
She sat up slowly then turned to her parents.
"Dangerous? If we are talking about dangerous then you're pointing your fingers at the wrong person" They furrowed their eyebrows in confusion.
"What are you talking about, Aurora?" Her mother questioned.
Xavier's words suddenly echoed in Aurora's head.
"Stand up for yourself" She muttered lowly so only her could hear then she stood up from the bed, raised her hand and pointed at Veronica.
"If we want to talk about Dangerous then we should talk about my dear sister that has made it her life's mission to make me miserable" Her parents eyes widened then they turned to Veronica who had shock written on her face.
She easily played it off with a laugh.
"Who do you think you're pointing a finger at? How do I make you miserable?" Aurora scoffed.
"How? Because of you, I have no friends and you constantly try to bring me down with every chance you get!" Veronica scoffed.
"What? You have no friends because you're a loser, don't put that on me" Their parents gasped as they turned to Veronica with a stern look in their eyes.
"Your sister is not a loser, Veronica" Nikolas uttered.
"But it's the truth. I didn't have to do anything, everyone hates her because she's a sick loser" Their parents gasped and Veronica's eyes widened when she had realized what she had said.
"Now you really see how my dear sister sees me, as a sick loser and she doesn't fail to show me just how weak I am everyday. Let's not forget about the part where she tried to burry me alive when we were kids" The colour drained out of Veronica's face as their parents turned to her.
"Is that true, Veronica?!" Nikolas boomed and she gulped.
"I was a kid, I…" Aurora rolled her eyes as she sat back down on he bed and watched the scene unfold. It felt good to finally see her parents see Veronica for who she really was.
"Good Job, little wolf"...
