Worse than laying an egg...

Undoubtedly, the demonic moles ambushed these enemies, way before Gustav even joined the scene. The lack of the laser-like rays indicated so, only moments ago.

He found about four corpses, who either had their arms or legs severed!

They looked a lot like humans, but were shorter and had significantly small heads. An extra pair of arms stretched out of their hips, which further confirmed that these could be aliens, or mutants at least!

Gustav couldn't poke around just yet, as one more opponent remained. He was more than ready to put up an end to this, the red-skinned attacker had to be slashed.

He felt embarrassed to swing a sword that was only four-feet long, but it still did the trick. The opponent was half of Gustav's size, so this battle ended only after a couple of slashes around the head.

"Finally," He sighed.

Just as he was about to relax, a shockingly hot pain struck his back. His eyes bulged out in shock, but he already guessed that an arrow had sunk in his flesh!

"That feels worse than laying an egg," Gustav grunted.

He turned around afterwards, and wanted to yell at the guards. The battle was over without a doubt, but the village wasn't really aware.

"Well shit," He sighed, as a few sparkles across the sky, called for attention.

Their trajectory was flawless, and it was impossible to evade them without sacrificing the little demons, who still chewed on the corpses.

He kneeled over them in response, just so they wouldn't get slaughtered off! Gustav was frustrated, especially since he didn't know if the rest were already hurt, from that recent battle.

Those thoughts were invasive, but the pain helped him become alert again. Arrows stabbed his back five more times, they easily pierced through the furry barricade!

A few more arrows landed nearby as well, causing tiny thuds.

"Oh... Stop that you fucking idiots!" Gustav hollered, and slowly stood up.

The iron in his flesh prevented some movements, but he did manage to gather the crew up.

"Are you rascals okay?" He whispered, and slowly walked towards the right.

In the meantime, he noticed how Tunada ran around the forge's ruins, thirty meters away; She was likely aware of the current problem, and proved herself efficient too! The archers finally calmed down.

With the freedom given, Gustav sat down right away just to rest. It took so much strength to handle these wounds, so now he felt beyond tired!

Yet regardless of these conditions, he worried about these demons more. "Oh boy... An arrow on your back, and you're still kicking!"

Two of them suffered such damage, to be precise. It was a surprise that they survived, but he feared that they'd run out of luck. The best idea was to slowly pull those arrow heads out, which required a steady hand.

He broke its wooden shaft just to get a better grip, but the little demon still squealed in response, like it cried out!

"Oh shit! Are you okay?" Gustav panicked, and absolutely ignored the six arrows deep in his back.

The rest flinched as well, and dashed towards their hurt sibling. Faster than one could comprehend, they clawed an arrow-head out of the wounded demon's back; Without causing any more damage, that is. The other one received a similar treatment.

"Wow... y'all are smarter than me!" He complimented, and was simply happy that they were all alive.

"Heal! Heal!" They squealed in response, and suddenly started shaking their bodies around, paired with excessive stretches.

The red colored portions of their fur, lit up for some reason. They didn't exactly glow, but their backs changed into a colour bright enough to sizzle the grass nearby!

This display was confusing, but it had a purpose. Whole wounds diminished within a few breaths!

That wasn't all, some chunks of fur regrew right where burn-marks had sizzled everything off. The lasers they've evaded, were further put to shame now.

"Wow! Didn't know you could do that, you demons are pretty weird." Gustav sighed happily.

As the adrenaline rush was slightly worn down though, the pain across his back violently took over. It numbed most movements, so all he could do now was to sit.

"This is embarrassing," He huffed, and recalled. "I fought humans bare handed before, and didn't get messed up like this."

While the pain continued to push him down, these demons found the space to react. They crawled up the mammoth's back, and dug their claws within his flesh!

Gustav didn't even flinch, however. This was nothing in comparison to what he already suffered, plus, the rest were really careful with their work.

Within seconds, he saw whole arrows flying off his back, which bounced on the grass a couple of times.

"Taking care of your father, huh? You did most of the work anyway, and now you're healing me too." He slowly expressed, and felt ashamed.

The demons seemingly didn't care what he thought, and chances were that they didn't understand either. They had a bloody mess in front of them which demanded attention, and their red-fur brightened up again in response.

This time around, those healing waves spread across Gustav's wounds, encouraging regeneration! He was more than grateful, of course.

In the meantime, a lot of villagers arrived on the scene. The archers felt guilty and humiliated, once they saw all those bloody arrow-tips near their guest.

They tried to make it up, but there was little one could do. These archers weren't nearly strong enough to lift an eight-foot tall mammoth, and cooperation didn't help them much either.

Thankfully though, after about ten minutes he regained enough strength to stand up with little to no help. Tunada was by his side, and the grip she had was more than enough to help Gustav keep balance, even with all those demons who hitched a ride on his back.

Arila arrived on the scene just minutes later, and she fumed with anger. She was furious with the archers, and also loathed the fact that she didn't participate in that prior battle.

"How could you shoot the man who saved your pathetic asses? He was the only one who was prepared!" Her voice thundered.

Although she was a common guard as well and had absolutely no authority, she harassed her comrades to the point where they hastily patrolled the area!

Arila latched on Gustav's side afterwards, and said. "I'm sorry... You're a guest here, but had to protect us instead. It's really embarrassing."

"Oh, I know what embarrassment feels like. But go easy on the guards, it's not entirely their fault." He answered.

The couple of ladies didn't know what he meant, Tunada was especially oblivious. Her house and business was destroyed just moments ago, so a heart-attack didn't sound unlikely.

Anyway, after they recovered ever so slightly, Gustav decided to have another look at those foreign corpses. He wasn't aware of what creatures these lands had, and was yet to determine if they were actually foreign.

The numerous bodies were mostly intact, and with the villagers to his aid, he wanted to formulate a better understanding.
