Owl of the great three

Every time Gustav used the blaster which he looted from those alien corpses, he was reminded how important technology was.

A single blast made him feel like the sun exploded! It wasn't so easy on the eyes, even though the ray of orange light only stretched a couple of feet wide.

Thankfully the blast didn't throw him back physically, but other than that it was pretty intense. Even the newborns got spooked, regardless of how their demonic skin somewhat resembled an everburning fire!

"Oh, look at it go… did we hit it?" Gustav asked after a couple of seconds.

The odds of success were difficult to determine, even though the demons helped as much as they could in terms of aiming.

This blast featured a blinding, orange ray which was shaped much like a fireball. The blinding after-effect made it difficult to look at anything, without squinting a few times!

They could see again eventually, after some frantic attempts. Afterwards though they grew even more nervous, because nothing significant happened after that shot.

They eventually noticed that the 'fireball' was still going, which meant that it hadn't yet clashed against the target. This was very worrying, as fate wasn't by their side from the looks of it!

"Well shit," Gustav grunted.

He heard a whistle-like sound, which had this weird and forceful tune to it. In the first couple of seconds he didn't know what it was, but then he noticed that the sea-waters themselves were whistling!

The approacher was about three-hundred meters away now, and the rugged whistling increased after every ticking second! It was obvious, the team was dealing with an agile and smart opponent!

Such a threat factor was tough, but Gustav didn't want to give up. "Can't die yet, especially because of a bird!"

Perhaps he degraded this enemy a bit too much, but his point of view was still valid. He handled a group of super advanced aliens before, so this fight shouldn't be as deadly in comparison!

Gustav popped another blaster out of that utility belt, and started aiming. The blasters were so small, so it was easy to handle two of them at the same time, as a single click was enough to muster up a blast!

"Haha!" He celebrated, as the enemy was shunned away in the face of this glowing danger.

One disadvantage was the blinding after-effect he got, after each shot. It surely blurred the world away for him, but he didn't give up!

Gustav didn't want to fry one of his kids, accidents should be avoided. "Go away kids! Run for it, papa's got this!"

The newborns were at a greater risk, because they could fly in front of the blast at any time. He urged and yelled out that command a couple more times, before they obliged.

Each of them had a pack instinct, they didn't want to be away from family. It was necessary, however, as Gustav could only hold the beast away for a little while!

He randomly shot against the sky, and gave that bird quite a workout in exchange. Within a fraction of visual clarity, he noticed how a pair of massive, brown wings twitched every muscle to avoid the deadly, orange blasts!

"Got you shitting across the sky, huh? Motherfucker!" Gustav proudly shouted, and then started shooting like a deranged maniac.

With about six blasts shot out all together, every second, it was inevitable to scare the enemy away!

It flew towards the ocean again, but he didn't see that, and continued to shoot upwards without planning to stop. Such an obsession to kill looked hilarious at least, but it had to stop.

"Father, it flew away!" A mole shouted.

Gustav wasn't sure of that, mostly because he couldn't see a thing. He had to wait for nearly twenty seconds, just to get a somewhat clear view of the world around them.

He noticed that there wasn't a bird across the sky, which was undoubtedly a good thing. The bird was still alive, though, so in a way he got all worked up for nothing.

That didn't stop him from trying again. Gustav looked at the ocean next, and tried his best to take a decent shot!

It was too late, however. Regardless of how the massive bird had been over two-hundred meters away, it got back here in just under five seconds!

Such speed seemed otherworldly, but the trouble didn't stop there. Just when the bird was about twenty meters away from the ocean shores, it suddenly flapped those massive wings forward.

Regardless of how fast it was going a moment ago, the bird managed to stop on the spot! That was not all.

The aggressive flap it slapped forward, weaponized a deadly quantity of wind! The momentum was so strong, that it even forced a ten-foot tall wave to rise up and splash against the shores!

"I probably won't drown, but…" Gustav thought, as the wave which stretched over fifteen feet long, knocked him down almost effortlessly.

"Fucks sake… this was better than any stretching exercise I ever took." He thought, and tried to stand up.

The slap from those waves sent him flying for a few meters, but it also helped relieve a lot of muscle tension. The paired adrenaline made him feel reborn, but that might not be enough to fend trouble away.

"What the hell are you?" Gustav asked, after he only managed to sit up.

He noticed that the monstrous bird hadn't been hostile ever since it arrived. It just stood idle above the sand, and its massive, four foot long talons sunk a few inches as well.

Even the shores couldn't bear the weight of this bird, but its attitude was even heavier.

It eventually answered, "You abomination, I am an owl of the great three! Defender of the holy pyramids, and I'm their worshiper too!"

"So you like pointy rocks? Whatever. Did you come here to kill us, or not?" Gustav asked.

He was pretty stressed, as it wasn't easy to comprehend the sheer size of this twelve-foot tall beast! Any mammoth would feel small in comparison, and utterly vulnerable too.

Things didn't become any easier, once it asked. "Should I kill you?"
