CHAPTER 7.

QUINN'S POV:

It was already a few weeks since the engagement dinner and I've been hounded by the media severally. I've also seen myself on many newspapers and magazines.

It was so overwhelming. Today was a Saturday so i didn't have school. My father urged me to visit Xavier at his work place. To make this feel real I also had to make efforts.

Xavier sent loads of flowers and gifts for me every single day since the past few weeks. I even had to give some out to make space in my room.

Anyways, I was going to see him today. Say hi and leave immediately.

I wore a white button up crop top and a white pleated skirt. My golden curls were left to rest against my back and I wore Black knee high combat boots.

Wearing minimum makeup, I finished up and grabbed my car keys, phone and backpack.

I left the house and got in my car and typed the address to Sterling's headquarters before driving off.

After about 30 minutes of driving, I got there and parked my car. I sighed. Of course, there were one or two reporters hanging around. I slipped on some dark shades and steppd out of the car.

Nico approached me ready to escort me in.

"Hi Nico." I greeted and he smiled.

"Ms. Andrews. Welcome. This way please." He said leading me forward.

The receptionist at the front desk stared openly as we walked by. I raised a questioning eyebrow and she looked away. Who knew I was that intimidating?

We got in the Elevator and Nico pressed the button for the top floor.

"Is Xavier in?" I asked trying to make small talk.

"Yes Ms. Andrews. He's currently in a meeting. You'll be seeing him right away."

The elevator binged, letting us know we had arrived. Faith was at her desk, just like she said.

She stared in surprise before sitting upright.

"Ma'am."

I heard of rumors where employees had to be scared of the boss's wife.

Apparently, if we want you gone then you're gone.

I smiled warmly at Faith. "Hi!" I waved and she returned it.

"Ms. Andrews? This way please."

Nico knocked on a door and we waited. Xavier's workplace looked amazing. He definitely put the work into it.

The door was opened by a girl probably few years older and she stared.

"Nico? Who's this?" She asked frowning at me.

I smiled sweetly. "Mrs Sterling." As much as I hated that name, I knew she was probably one of his exes. She blinked in disbelief.

"Mrs Sterling is not so young." She argued.

"Laura..."

I cut Nico off before he could speak.

"You see, I'm the Mrs Sterling to the man in there so if you'll just move out of the way, That would be nice." I said. I was already bored of this conversation.

She hesitated before moving aside. I gave her one last smile before walking into the office. I was blinded by how much white furniture was in this office. I could easily pass off as one with my outfit.

Xavier stood by the glass windows on a phone call and I cursed him for being so good looking even with his front turned away.

Nico stood patiently at the door with Laura while I made myself comfortable on Xavier's huge office chair.

He finally turned around and was surprised to see me.

"Quinn?!"

"King." I replied with a smirk as he walked towards me.

"You're here. Why?" He asked still trying to grasp that fact. I pouted.

"You don't want me here?" I asked.

Charades. It's all that.

"No. You've been avoiding me for weeks and you somehow fried your phone free of my contact." He said and I smiled sheepishly at him. Nico smiles in amusement. Laura on the other hand stood awkwardly in the room.

"First, I wasn't avoiding you. I had school. Second, I broke my phone in anger and Third, Who the hell is she?" I asked.

Xavier had a wicked smile on his lips. Oh boy. He thought I was jealous? It's not like I'd ever admit it so.....

"This is Laura Smith. My personal assistant."

Huh? His PA? That didn't shake my resolve of the fact that they were obviously a thing.

"Can you two give us some privacy?" I asked. Nico nodded and walked out taking Laura with him. Once the door was closed, I picked a random folder and chucked it at Xavier.

He dodged but another was coming his way and it hit him straight in the face. This will have to suffice till I finally get a chance to smack him.

"What the hell was that for?!" He yelled and I shrugged. "No particular reason. Just felt like it." I replied.

"I need to get back to work." He muttered and I looked at him. "Okay." I said. He sighed.

"You're in my seat. I really need to finish sorting these files which you just disorganized." He pointed out.

"Okay. Do that then. I'm not moving from my spot. I'm comfortable." I said. He clenched his fist and glared at me.

I shrieked as he picked me up and walked over to the sofa. "Drop me you giant oaf!" I yelled and he did.

I fell down in a heap on the couch.

I sent him the evil eye.

"You said to drop you and I did." He said in defense and I rolled my eyes.

He left me and walked back to his desk. I stood up and followed. I was going to bug the hell out of him.

"What are you reading?" I asked after watching him for a few minutes. "A business file Quinn. Can you move back a bit?" He asked. I inched even closer and he jolted backwards.

I smiled innocently. We had been so close, we could've kissed.

"What do you want woman?" He snapped.

"Food. I'm actually hungry." I said. He ran a hand through his hair before slamming the file shut.

He stood up and rounded the table to get to me.

"Come on. Food? You're going to get." He grumbled taking my hand in his. I smiled Satisfied.

it's barely been an hour and he was already tired of dealing with me.

The storm was only brewing. The downpour was close.
