Early Morning Conversation

"What was that about?"

"Yeah, what a weird girl?"

"Alien portal? What is she crazy?"

I then blinked again and found myself on the roof of my apartment, standing on the ledge, protecting you from falling off the building.

My eyes held no sign of life… and just like that, I dropped head first.

My eyes slowly opened, and I found Faye clinging to me in the middle of the night she was wrapped in blankets while I was completely bare with only my bra and pants.

"Geez… you're quite the character… bringing all of that horrible shit back up again," I muttered, pushing the woman off of me and walking over to the island in the middle of my kitchen.

A single mug of cold tea sat still, and when I grabbed it, the sound of a door creaking open behind me rung across the room.

"What is it?" I sighed, slowly turning to Silas, who was eyeing the white-haired woman who collapsed against the couch.

She was absorbed in her sleep that the cushions almost seemed to drag her further in, attempting to keep her under the hypnosis of the drowsy for an even longer period of time.

Seeing how Silas wasn't responding, I just ignored him and began to get a simple meal ready.

It was early in the morning. Way too early in the morning, but I had a feeling I wouldn't be going back to sleep anytime soon, so breakfast at three o'clock sounded nice.

"Instant ramen for breakfast?" Silas finally spoke up, stepping behind me and wrapping me with a warm blanket to cover my near-naked torso. "You should eat something healthier… you need to maintain your health better,"

"My ability is basically already linked to smoking cigarettes… I might as well fuck it up even more while I'm at it," I smirked, pouring some water into a pot and then lighting the stove up, getting the water ready for when I put the noodles in.

"*sigh*... Whatever… do what you want," Silas shrugged, rummaging through my fridge but eventually speaking up amidst the peaceful silence.

His blade of a voice cut through it, breaking my trance as I stared into the now boiling water, watching each and every individual bubble pop with ease.

Slowly, I sunk the noodles in a while, listening to Silas speak.

"You're leaving the city, right? A fight for power will most likely corrupt the entire city…. I'm sure you don't want to take sides,"

"Mhm… and what about it? You wanna follow me?"

"Nah… I have things to do here and take care of… but I was wondering if you really didn't want to take revenge. I could assist you in taking care of the ones who made you suffer like this. It would be as easy as snapping my fingers…."

"Stop joking," I muttered, slumping on one of the stools right next to the kitchen's island.

"Oh? So you are interested?"

"Nope… not in the slightest. I've been baptized by the god of death… I feel like…."

"Fufufu… Alright, edgelord," Silas chuckled, tossing me a pack of cigarettes that he had just pulled out of his pocket.

My past life, which had the purpose of being a tool was practically eradicated, and here I am, awake in this new body.

Was this a sign from Hades to change my direction in life? Was I supposed to do something different?

Many questions like this had been swirling through my mind, but at the end of the day, I was content with how I was now.

Diving deeper into the truth about this system I acquired and why everything turned out the way it did… could only be answered by the gods, yet I didn't have the power nor courage to even dare to question them.

I've never once blamed them for how I turned out, as it was my fault entirely… for being so weak.

Maybe they were the reason why my parents were swallowed by those portals, but without that, I might not be as content with my life as how I am now.

I've decided I'll never be happy, and I was never destined to be happy, so if I'm strong, I'm more content than I would be if I was weak.

As I looked up at Silas, seeing him light my cigarette, we both smiled at each other as we enjoyed our morning all the way until Faye woke up.

Albus, on the other hand, was still completely knocked out. He was drooling all over my sheets and everything… but I didn't dare to wake him as when his beauty sleep is interrupted, he can be quite the annoyance.

"Good morning," Silas said, handing the dozy-eyed woman a mug of hot coffee that was practically boiling.

"G'morning," She meekly replied, rubbing her eyes and sitting up from the couch.

Unsurprisingly, she avoided even daring to look in my direction out of guilt or possibly just out of kindness.

I've always said how I was disgusted by her face, and I guess now she really didn't want to show it.

"You still got your bread?" Silas asked, sitting down next to me and sipping on his fourth cup of coffee this morning.

"Bread? Why would I have- oh, you mean money?" She asked, and we both rolled our eyes. "S-Sorry… b-but yeah, I should have it. In fact, I should have access to all the money I could ever need since I have free-range access to my parent's bank account,"

"The rest of your family won't come after you?" I asked since her cousins, uncles, aunts, grandparents, you name it should be after her head for various reasons.

And the first step to inconvenience her would be to take advantage of their bank accounts, as hacking technology has come a long way.

"We ummm… store our money in the form of physical value. It's a bit out of date even during this day and age, but we use the gold to copper coin system,"

"It's only out of date to you rich people," I muttered, and as an awkward air penetrated through the atmosphere, Albus came rushing out of my bedroom.
