CHAPTER 49

　　It was a purely crazy thing to do, setting out to look for Robert on his own without backup. He was lucky enough to have traced Robert's location to a motel but by the time Damien arrived at his room, Robert was nowhere to be found.

　　After weeks of waiting for him to return, they concluded that Robert must be on the run for a long time. The calls and threats had stopped as well which came as a relief to Annie. She was happy that her life and that of her best friend were safe.

　　They returned to their normal lives now that Robert was gone for good. Annie sought to resume back at the office though Damien had objected to it.

　　Her presence was welcomed by everyone at the office. It came as a surprise to her, her office was beautifully decorated with flowers. Gift cards were placed on her table to commemorate her return.

　　"What is going on here?" Annie asked the Secretary. "What are the gift cards for?"
