CHAPTER FIFTY-TWO

His world was finally falling apart again. First, he had lost his mother to the cold hands of death at a young age by those murderers, and now the woman he loved dearly had been abducted by those same people.

He wished he hadn’t ignored her calls, he wished he had listened to Esme earlier enough when she told him to talk to Annie. He wished he had gotten there on time, maybe she would have been safe.

Damien was filled with rage as he drove to the scene where Annie had gone, hoping to find her there or anywhere around. By the time he got there, he found no one except the lifeless body of Robert lying on the ground. Annie’s car was parked there, her phone was in the car when he checked.

"Serves you right," he muttered. He spat on the body and drove off, following the trail the vehicle had left behind until he got to a three-way junction where he lost the trail.

"Did you find her?" Esme asked over the phone.

"She's gone, Annie is gone. They took her away," Damien said.
