I Choose You

"Ahem. Mr Ross? May I ask a question?"

"Uh… Yes, Miss Elaine. You may ask your question.", responds Mr Ross, the Class 12A homeroom teacher, allowing Elaine to speak.

Rising to her feet coyly, Elaine clears her throat to set sail her ingenious deceptive plot for the seat.

"Sir, Goldie Markell called in sick, correct?", she questions.

"Yes, she is ill and under a quarantined observation. She shouldn't be coming to school today. What is your question?", responds Mr Ross, urging Elaine to get to the point.

"Well, since she is absent today, can I take her seat?", Elaine asks in the most polite tone possible.

"You see… I feel a little stuffy and would like a seat closer to the window. I figured, since Goldie isn't in school today, then I can move over to her seat easily without upsetting the class arrangement."

It made sense. Yes, it was a reasonable request to be granted by any teacher.
