I opened my eyes a small amount to see what it was, looking to see Pearl getting out of bed. Wrapping my arms around her waist, I tried to stop her from getting up.
The next second she started hitting my hands trying to get me off of her. I of course, did not let go and pulled her down. She turned her head and looked a bit surprised to see me.
"Good M-morning." I said stifling a yawn. I snuggled my face into her neck and hugged her closer.
I felt her move her head around as she looked around the room.
*sigh* "Good morning, David." She said with a sigh. Prying my hands open she sat up and got out of bed.
Tugging at her sleeve a few times, I pouted at her as she looked down. "What's wrong?" she asked.
"Lay back down and sleep." I said, pouting even more as I patted the empty spot next to me.
She glanced over at the digital clock on the side table, "David, I have work. You can sleep all you want as if anybody's gonna say anything to you. I on the other hand have to get ready." she said.
I watched her as she walked over to the bathroom and sighed. A few minutes later, I got up and walked into the bathroom as she walked into the wardrobe.
I walked out sulkily with my toothbrush in my mouth, taking hold of my phone to scroll through my notifications.
"Hey, David. How do I look?" I heard pearl ask from my front. I looked up from my phone at her, then the brush fell from my mouth as I stood there stunned.
She was wearing a bright yellow dress, a white round-neck, and white and yellow checkered socks that went up to her knees. Her maroon hair was in two braids sitting on her shoulders.
I quickly caught myself and bent down to pick up my toothbrush, trying to hide my bright red face as I spoke, "You look gorgeous." trying to maintain my cheery voice.
"Heheh, I'll head down for breakfast then!" she said, giggling, and walked out the door towards the kitchen.
I stood there for a few seconds looking at my still-red face in the mirror. [God, she looked so cute. But why do I feel like I've seen that dress somewhere before.. Oh, right, I once saw Cordelia in a similar dress.] I thought.
Walking back into the bathroom, I finished washing up and went to get changed. Walking out in my suit, I stepped out of the room and headed downstairs.
Entering the kitchen, I sat down and looked intently at Pearl. I don't know why but she looked so pretty, the bright yellow ribbons in her hair made her maroon hair stand out.
"Is there something on my face?" she mumbled, touching her cheeks.
"No, I'm just admiring your beauty." I said, a small smile blooming on my face. "Y'know, I think all those makeup products were a complete waste, my wife is already a natural beauty."
I could see the flush creep up her cheeks as she contemplated my words. She looked away from me, returning to her meal, and didn't even glance my way for the rest of the meal.
After eating, she got up and walked over to the living room. I hurriedly gulped down the rest of my tasteless porridge and followed after her.
"Pearl?" I called her as her hand rested on the handle of the door.
"Hm?" she hummed to indicate that she was listening.
"Could you drive me to work?" I asked with a cute expression, knowing that she would fall for it.
"Uh, well, sure, yeah! I'll drive you." she said, opening the door and stepping outside. She looked a bit flustered. Hah, she just showed me my new trick will work.
I slowly strode over to her car as she got in the driver's seat and started the car. Getting into the passenger seat, I buckled my seatbelt and sat quietly as we drove out of the street.
As we passed her workplace, a little way away from my company, she asked, "Do you want me to pick you up after work?"
"Can you?" I asked sweetly, looking over at her.
"Sure, when are you getting off?" she asked calmly.
"I'm supposed to get off at six, but they will probably make me get off at two or three." I said with a light smile.
"Okay, I'll come pick you up by three." She said, stopping right in front of the building.
"Okay, I'll see you after work!" I yelled cheerfully and got off the car.
When the car turned the corner and out of sight, I lost the stupid grin on my face.
Walking inside, I stepped into the elevator and pressed the top button. Striding into my office, I told my assistant to postpone all of my meetings after three and got to looking through the pile of files on my desk.
By three, I headed down and saw the car pulling up in front of the building. I got in, and we drove back home.
