Officer Richard Castle slipped silently into the darkened building. He smiled as moonlight reflected off of his badge. He looked down at his new NYPD uniform, thinking that he would need to have it tailored at the very least. Perhaps I can have a new one made up by my tailors in London? He thought. Castle remembered that he had more important things to do. While he knew that his partner was nearby, he knew that tonight Richard Castle, and only Richard Castle, would bring success to their mission. He slid his sidearm from his holster and silently checked it. He was ready. After all these years, was he ever ready for this!

He stepped into the gloom, hoping his years of training would stand him in good stead. He moved silently into an open area. There! Something was in the corner of the room. Did it just move? Yes! Yes! He boldly strode towards his target. He raised his weapon, preparing to fire. "NYPD!" He barked. "Don't move!"

"Dumb flatfoot!" Came a voice from just beside him. Castle turned to see his quarry holding a weapon on him. As he saw the trigger being pulled, he opened his mouth just in time to be hit by a stream of vodka. "I got you, Castle." She teased.

Castle raised his weapon and shot a stream of vodka into the mouth of his target. "That you did, Beckett. You win."

Kate shook her head slowly. "I tied a string to a pillow and made it move. Really? You thought I was in the corner?"

"It's not fair. You get to go first always, and I have to hang back."

Kate leaned forward and kissed him lightly on the lips. "Life isn't fair, Rick. Just like it isn't fair that you're just standing there."

"Oh, right." He muttered. "Just one more?" Kate nodded and opened her mouth. Rick did the same, then they shot a stream of vodka into each other's mouths.

Kate put her squirt gun down, and pulled out a remote control. "Showtime, Castle." She hit the remote and the center of the living room was bathed in light. The sound system began to play:

Just take those old records off the shelfI'll sit and listen to 'em by myselfToday's music ain't got the same soulI like that old time rock 'n' roll

Castle dances into the spotlight and then turns away from Kate, who is now sitting on the couch, clapping her hands in time to the music. He looks back over his shoulder at Kate, does a double hip shot, and quickly goes into a bump and grind. Dancing backwards towards Kate, he takes off his hat and throws it to her. She catches it, smiles, and puts the hat down beside her.

Castle pulls the Velcro holding his shirt together apart in one swift move. Still facing away from Kate, he looks at her over his shoulder and very, very slowly allows the shirt to drop to waist level.

Kate whistles loudly. "Take it off!" She yells.

He drops the shirt, then turns around so that Kate can see his broad chest and muscular abs. He dances towards her, smiling, then hooks his thumbs into the waistband of his pants, pushing them down ever so slightly.

"Yeah!" Kate yells. She reaches for him, but he quickly dances away. She pouts, but he tears the Velcro from one pant leg away, exposing a long, muscular leg. She whistles again and crooks a finger at him, beckoning him to come to her. He shakes his head, but rips the other strip of Velcro so that his pants are being held up by his hands. Kate smiles and holds up a one dollar bill. Rick dances over and drops his pants. He has on blue boxer shorts. Kate frowns, but then tucks the bill in the front of his boxers. Rick dances just out of reach of Kate, turns around and pushes down his shorts exposing his smooth, muscular butt. Kate notices that he's still wearing a jock strap still. He dances backwards towards her, allowing her to stroke his butt. Then he turns around. Kate dissolves in giggles when she sees that embroidered on the front of the jockstrap are the words, "Personal Property of Detective Kate Beckett Castle, NYPD."

"Really, Rick. Who did the embroidering?" She asks while laughing.

"That's my secret."

"I'm guessing your secret has red hair." Kate stands and walks to Rick, who has stopped dancing. She pulls out another one dollar bill and pushes it down the front of his jockstrap. She keeps he hand there, stroking and arousing him. He pulls her to him and kisses her. Suddenly she pulls her hand out.

"Hey! I thought you liked that." Before he can say any more, he sees she's pulled her tee shirt off and has unclasped her bra and let it fall to the floor. She undoes her shorts and pushes them and her panties down and steps out of them. He's already taken his jockstrap off. She wraps her arms around him and kisses him passionately, grinding her boobs against his chest and wrapping one leg around him. He strokes the outside of one boob with one hand and gently squeezes her ass with the other.

She breaks the kiss. "I can't wait. I need you now." She grasps his erection and starts to pull him towards the bedroom. He surprises her by picking her up, carrying her to the bedroom and gently depositing her on the bed.

She spreads her legs and moans. "I can't wait. I can't wait."

"You don't have to." He says, entering her with one swift move.

An hour later the tired lovers cuddle happily. "So how was your first birthday as Mrs. Castle?" He whispers in her ear.

"This was the best birthday ever." She said before kissing him.

"Wrong. The absolute best birthday ever was you Rear Window murder case for me. No one will ever top that."

Kate looked him in the eyes. "Oh! I thought you said you were going to get me back, only bigger and better?"

He shrugged. "I'm not sure I can. I remember how terrified I was that you were hurt or dead. When I first met you I saw how much pain you were in. I couldn't cause you any pain, Kate. I just couldn't. I'm all about giving you love and joy, not pain. And that limits my options for getting back at you."

"Are you trying to put me off my guard?" She asked suspiciously.

He just laughed.

She kissed him again. "I was a complete mess when you first met me."

"You were a remarkable and incredibly hot mess, then."

She shook her head. "No, I was a mess. I had given up on solving my mom's murder. All I had was my job. I had no life aside from that. I had a wall around me that no one could get through, and a hollow space where my heart should have been. I really resented you for trying to change me. Even today, I find myself wondering why you love me after all I did to you."

"I love you because you are absolutely the most remarkable, exciting, complex, fascinating, entrancing, incredibly hot woman on the whole planet."

She tapped her head. "I know that here." She tapped her heart. "But in my heart I'm terribly afraid of losing you."

Rick realized she was serious. "Kate, I will never, ever leave you. No one means more to me than you do. I never felt like this about Meredith, Gina, Kyra or anyone else. I meant it when I said I can't imagine my life without you. I have no life without you."

"Rick, I lied to you for a year about how I felt. And about hearing you say that you loved me. What kind of a cold hearted bitch would do that to the man she loves?"

"Hey, you're talking about the woman I love!"

She slapped him lightly on the chest. "I am the woman you love." She pulled him closer to her. "I will always be afraid of losing you in some way. You don't have to stop loving me for me to lose you, you know."

"Okay, but think of this. While you were lying to me about not hearing me say that I loved you, I was lying to you about Michael Smith. So we're even there."

She shook her head. "You lied to me because you loved me and wanted to protect me. I lied to you because I was afraid of loving you."

"I still lied. And I still love you and I always will."

"Rick, I want to be the best possible wife that I can be for you. I want to let you in. I want to tell you everything. I don't ever want to keep secrets from you. I just want to be the best wife I can."

"You're lucky, considering that your competition for Richard Castle's Best Wife are Meredith and Gina. Not much competition there."

"Castle! That's not what I meant! I want the whole world to know how much I love you and how much I need you." She pulled his face close to hers. "Promise me that if I ever start telling you that things are fine when you know they're not, or if I tell you that I don't care when you know that I do, call me on it."

"Okay, but only if you promise to do the same for me."

She held out her hand. "Deal." They shook on it.

"I wonder what would have happened if I had been as concerned with finding love as I was with pushing you, and love, away. We might have been married for a couple of years by now." She took his hand and ran it over her smooth stomach. "We might have a couple of little Castle babies by now."

"Little Castle babies. Kate, are you…?"

"No. We'll discuss it before we have little Castle babies. I won't surprise you, Rick."

Rick stroked her boob and teased her nipple. "We could practice, so we won't have forgotten how when we need it."

"Castle…" She was laughing too hard to continue.

"Happy birthday, Kate."

"The best ever."
