The Nerve

Ivy sits next to Liz as Jackson explains the procedure to the family, "Now once I remove the sural nerve from your leg, Dr. Torres will graft it on to Dr. Shepherds median nerve. You'll likely experience some discomfort in your leg for a few weeks-"

"Months. Months. And when he says discomfort, it's gonna hurt like hell," Derek said, pacing behind Ivy.

Liz looks at him, "Well, you're a bag of sunshine, aren't you? Seriously, Ives, is he always like this?"

Jackson smirks, "Ives?"

She waves him off, "My sisters nickname for me. And no, just when he needs to let others help him."

"I just don't want to hear six months from now that you can't move and that the ibuprofen hurts your stomach," Derek lists.

"He makes me sound like I'm a 90 year old man. Have you noticed that?" Liz asks Jackson and Ivy.

"Because I've heard for decades how I ruined your life..." Derek says as Ivy hangs her head at the topic.

Liz argues, "Becaue you did."

Derek continues, "And that mom doesn't love you."

"Because she doesn't."

"I don't want to hear about this again," Ivy complains.

Liz shushes her, "Quiet Ivy. And Derek, I think what you're trying to say is thank you, Lizzie, for cutting off a leg and giving it to me."

Derek laughs, "Ah. Here it is. This is how it's gonna go down in history. It is a nerve. It is not the entire leg."

Ivy stops her bickering siblings, "Stop. Focus. Jackson, please continue."

"Um, I think Dr. Shepherds right. If you're unsure, we-"

"Jackson!" Ivy says as Liz complains, "Oh, come on. I'm just winding him up because it is so easy. Like you've never seen Ives do it? Just give me the form."

Jackson nods, "Okay."

Liz signs as Ivy sighs. Once she signs it, Liz looks at Derek and Meredith, "Now can I go hang out with Zola in day care?"

Meredith sits up, "Oh, I'm sorry. They don't let the adults come and go because it's harder on the kids."

Ivy sees Liz's face turn downward and so does Derek, "I will bring her to you later."

He kisses the top of her and Ivys head before leaving the room. Liz turns to Jackson, "So, now that I've met Dr. Avery, can I meet Jackson Avery, my sisters boyfriend?"

"Um, uh, ye-uh okay," Jackson stumbles as Ivy giggles.

"Yes, this is Dr. Jackson Avery, my boyfriend. Jackson, this is one of my older sisters, Lizzie," Ivy introduces.

They shake hands, "Its nice to meet you finally, Jackson. Ives has told me a lot about you."

Jackson nods, "Shes told me a lot about you as well. Now, I'm going to go prep and practice because I know of a lot of people that will be mad at me if I mess this up. So, I will see you both later," he gets up, kissing Ivys head quickly before leaving.

"You got a good one."

"Oh, I know."

Ivy sits down to lunch with Cristina, Meredith, and April, "Flower, music- it's a recipe for disaster."

"April, you're going to be fine. Don't worry about it," Meredith tells her.

"Oh, come on. Don't tell her she's gonna be fine. You're gonna be looking all pretty, little bit of lip gloss on your prudey little mouth. You'll be ready for a wonderful night before you realize that- oops, no one to go home to. Then you'll go home and call your ex boy toy and Jackson and Ivy will be asking to sleep somewhere else," Crisitna spins the story as Ivy giggles.

"Nope, Jackson got us a hotel room," Ivy smirks.

April rolls her eyes before getting up and leaving them. Meredith looks at Cristina, "Cruel. And Ivy, you weren't helpful either."

They go back to eating but notice that Meredith looks like she wants to tell them something, "What?"

"Nothing."

Ivy paces in the scan room as Jackson gives them the news, "Lizzies calves are a little shorter than we anticipated."

"Tall girl, short calves," Callie sums up.

"Is that going to be a problem?" Ivy asks.

Jackson shakes his head at her, "No, not if we just get a little more nerve from the other leg."

Derek questions, "Are you saying to-no. Absolutely not. No, I never likes this idea in the first place. We find another donar or we don't do it."

Meredith tells him, "Well we couldn't find another donar that's why we-"

"Well, then we're out of luck."

"Can't we just-"

"No, we can't. We're not gonna talk about this. We're not gonna float this past Lizzie. We're. It cutting both her legs to remove pieces. Cancel the procedure," Derek moves to walk out but Ivy pushes him back.

She points at him, "No. Shut up Derek. You are not giving up this chance to get back in the O.R. As you said, you practically raised all of us. You were there each time we needed you. And now, this one time you need one of us, you're just going to turn it away? No. You are going to ask Lizzie about this and if she's okay with it, you're getting the procedure done. I'm not arguing with you further. You are going to shut up and accept the help or so help me, you'll regret it."

Derek nods, "Fine. Talk to Lizzie."

Ivy nods before her and Jackson walk out of the room. They find April at the front desk. Ivy skips over to her, "So, I was thinking. You should bring a date to Baileys wedding."

"Look, you two know that I broke up with Luke," April starts.

"Did you know his name was Luke?" Ivy questions Jackson behind April's back.

He shakes his head as they stand up straight again, "Anyways, that's why we are going to pick a date for you. Oh, there's Shane."

Jackson adds, "Yes, he's a good looking piece of man, huh?"

Ivy laughs, "Never say that again. You just sound weird. Hey, Ross!"

She waves him over as April glares at the couple.
