Busy Day

Ivy yawns as her and Owen talk with the maintenance workers, "Make sure that's covered and make sure..."

April walks over to them, "What is all this?"

"Weather report says a massive storm is coming. Hurricane force winds and heavy rain. They say it's three days out," Owen tells her as Ivy drinks the coffee Jackson brought her.

"So we have time to prepare, then," April remarks.

"Exactly. So, we need to overstock the E.R. with supplies and blood products. We need to get ready for double capacity intakes. Extra beds and gurneys in the hallways," Ivy guides her.

Owen and Ivy stand on the stairs, addressing the rest of the surgeons, "This storm will bring in a lot of casualties. We're gonna need to make room for them, so let's discharge all patients that can be."

"Post-op and long term patients are gonna be transferred further inland to Seattle Pres. We're bringing in supplements- water, food, media, lighting," Ivy takes over.

"We're gonna be checking and refueling the backup generators. As for you surgeons," Owen nods to Ivy.

"Push, postpone, or cancel all elective procedures until after this storm. There will be a list of available surgeons...most importantly, we're gonna need to print hard copies of all computerized patient charts in case of a power loss," Ivy continues.

Jackson interrupts her, "All of them? Do we have time to-"

Bailey then interrupts him, "I'll do that."

Ivy smiles as Owen nods, "Bailey, it's good to have you back. I'll put you on the O.R. rotation."

"Uh, I mean I'll do the charts," she nods before walking away.

"Everyone, they're saying that this is going to be a bad one, but we have a maximum of three days to prepare. Let's do it and be ready when the storm hits. Dr. Hunt and I are available for any questions. Thank you," Ivy steps down.

Jackson messages the back of her neck, "You okay? You've been feeling unwell the past few weeks or so and this storm is-"

Ivy smiles before quickly pecking his lips, "I am fine. This is a little stressful but it's also what I'm made for."

Ivy quickly walked through the halls with April and Murphy following her, "Clear the hallway for cots, people will come looking for shelter."

"How bad is this supposed to be?"

"All we can do is hope for the best and prepare for the worst. What do we got?" Ivy asks the paramedic.

"30 year old construction worker. Wind blew him off a building. Fell four stories to impale himself on three bars of standing rebars. Vitals are stable. Minimal blood loss on the scene. Maintaining airway," the paramedic told Ivy, who was looking over the patient.

"Okay, let's go."

As they start pushing the gurney in, Murphy pleads behind Ivy, "Let his name be Bob. Please let his name be Bob."

April asks her, "Why?"

Murphy turns to her, "Shishka-bob."

Ivy glares at her as the patient talks, "My name is Leon."

"The patients awake and responsive."

"Oh, my God. I am so sorry," she tells the group.

"Its bad, huh? This is really bad? Am I gonna die?" Leon asks April.

April reassures him, "The fact that we're talking right now, Leon, means it's not as bad as it could be."

Leon sighs, "I guess so. If these bars hadn't caught me, I'd be a stain on the pavement right now."

Ivy smiles, "Thats the attitude, Leon. Keep it up, okay? Get him to the O.R. and we'll take x-rays there. Page Grey and Torres."

"Kepner. Shepherd," they hear.

"What?" They say in unison.

"Let Shepherd take this one," Owen gestures to Leon.

April argues, "Why? Why? I also caught it."

Owen argues, "Its a big case, and I need you on-"

She interrupts him, "Yes, it is a big case. It's my big case. Hey, I-I am about to take my oral boards again, and this is exactly the kind of case that I want them to see I can handle because I am going to crush them this year."

"I need you on storm prep."

"Oh, please, we all know that Ivy is better at that stuff than I am. And you once told me that I should stop trying to be an administrator and start being a surgeon. And that's my human shish kebab," April points to Leon.

Owen sighs, "Okay. All right. I hear you. Shepherd, you're with me on storm prep."

April runs off, "Thank you."

"We will be checking in on you. If things get hairy, I'm tagging you out," Owen yells after her.

"You won't have to," Owen goes to walk away but stops when he sees Ivy shaking her head, "What?"

"You give in way to easily. I get why you didn't want her there, but you could have pushed harder. I mean, I had a list of arguments but you just kneeled over," Ivy sighs.

He stutters, "Well- I-I she- she made a good point."

Ivy nods, "Yes, but if I keep getting put on administrative crap, I'm going to hurt someone just to get a patient."

"No, nobody does anything until we see how Peckwell is," Ivy hears as she walks into a room.

"Whose- oh, my God. Wilson? What happened to you?" She asks.

Alex tries to wave her off, "Nothing. Look, go home. Don't let anyone see you. You three don't say a word to anybody until we know exactly what's going on. Understand?"

They nod as Edwards comes in, "Hey. Are you okay?"

Cristina quickly moves, "Shes okay. You never saw her. What?"

"I have Paul Dawson's C.T. angio results," they quickly leave as Ivy pulls Wilson over to the couch.

"What are you doing? She has to leave," Alex tells her.
