The night Adson ate a full cake himself, one might have thought the boy had a huge appetite or he was a boy growing into a teen soon and his body would require as much food as he could, but it was more than that.
The last descendant of the Bachwezi dynasty had breathed her last that same night, the Bachwezi were demi gods that inhabited Wakanda land between 1000AD and 15000AD, they reared long horned cattle, grew crops and iron smelting and were the center of civilization by then. Being gods, they had powers to heal, shape-shift into any desired creature, move their spirits from one body and occupy another entity and among other powers. For unknown reasons one day they disappeared from earth and no one ever had or saw them again but the remains of their creations were left behind.
In the valleys of Kyangi, there lived an old woman that possessed some of these powers, the locals always saw her as a witch and never associated with her. She too was comfortable with her life, she could turn into the village chief and people would listen to her proposals without question. She could drain as much blood as she wanted from the cows on the village when extremely angry and owners would think it was a strange disease that had killed their cattle or that the God was displeased with their actions. She wasn't only mean but could also use her powers to heal the locals from any ailment. All she needed was to find a balance between being a villain and a hero.
Now her time to vanish from earth was nearing and since she hadn't born any off springs, she had no one to pass on her powers to, till one Christmas season when families had gathered for the normal annoying rituals they had always celebrated at that time.
She was passing through the different homesteads unnoticed to see what new civilization looked like. She always took pleasure in seeing the iron animals that the town folks walked in, and the rectangular metal pieces that they always held in their hands staring at them nonstop.
Passively enjoying the celebrations at the Baines homestead, she took particular interest in one baby that seemed to notice her. She loved spending time in this homestead reason being a thousand years back, this is where their palace used to be. Her father the emperor had built their palace in this exact place, they had lived here as a happy Royal family and ruled their dynasty in harmony till one morning when she woke up and everyone was gone except her.
When she tried to wave to the baby, the baby smiled back at her. This shocked her more than she could imagine because no one in her more than a thousand years had been able to notice her in her god form, they say babies were angels but this one was exceptional. Satisfied with the partying and human company at her former home, she decided to head back to her home hut and retire to her human shape of the old woman that she had chosen to live in, ut was more peaceful that way, the folks here tended to respect old people though the rumours that she was a witch did not go un noticed. Time was not on her side, soon she would return to her spirit world and she wanted part of her to be remembered on earth but she was not sure how to pull that off.
As she was about to cross the river, she had a cry from behind her, when she was returning back, there was a moving sound behind her and thinking it was an animal she almost neglected it, on giving it a close hear and look, she saw thatall it was the baby that had recognized her, she had walked a long distance and it had still followed her, when she looked closely it was a baby boy, it had moved along way and it wasn't interested in going back to their home, it looked like it longedfor an adventure of its own. She had been engrossed in her mind to notice this little creature earlier. "I hope you do not mind spending the night at the old woman's hut" she said and lifted the baby unto her back and crossed the river and continued to her hut.
Inside the hut, baby Adson did not make any fuss at all but felt more comfortable, the princess too enjoyed his company, he was fun to play with. it was the first time she enjoyed human company, she sang songs to the one year baby till he dosed off. As he slept, the princess enchanted some words upon the baby. At the break of the dawn baby Adson woke up in his cot next to his parents’ bed and everything felt right to him.
Seven years later on the night of the 500 launch of the eclipse, her spirit left this planet like the rest and the oldest woman of the village was found dead the incantations that she had made on the baby came to life; uncas sucris, metra wolshen, weishen ulta: "on the day that i give up my spirit, all my powers shall be absorbed unto you, for your my chosen one."
