Chapter Thirty

We sat in front of the fire, waiting for the rice to finish in the pot, and the fish to roast in the pan. I put some salt on the cooking fish so it would have some sort of seasoning when we ate it.

"You are doing very well," Kai sighed in relief and relaxed his legs on the ground. "In this aspect, you bring back memories of my mother."

His words brought me back to that weird experience I had. Where I saw him and his family. His mother was beautiful, and she carried herself with grace. I could tell from that experience that she loved her son very much.

I grabbed the handle of the pot with the finished rice and placed it on a slab of stone to cool. I also stirred it around with the wooden spoon and scooped up some of the rice into my mouth. It didn't taste flavorful, but it was cooked well and satisfying. "Come and try some." I motioned him over.
