Chapter Forty

The rain went away immediately, and the Elvanorian soldiers ceased marching. The Sellors soldiers camped around to see what was happening. When Jackie was laid to rest on the grass, I threw myself to the ground and embraced her. She was still breathing okay, and her heart was still beating normally. Relief washed over me when I got the confirmation that she was okay.

But I felt something was still off. A breeze brushed against my back. Somehow it resonated with me that Lord Alfie was in danger. I turned to face him and extended my hand out. A vine of flowers scooped him into the air, and I saw Kimi's sword almost graze him. But she shifted her attack toward me and Kai and Arthur both stepped in. Kai blocked her with another wall of fire, and Arthur kicked her away.
