chapter four
Joan and Nick watched as their parents left them . on their way back to Joan's hostel
" you trust me" Nick asked referring to what Joan said to their parents
"yes I do" Joan said
"if you know what I think of doing to you Everytime I see you, you wouldn't trust me" Nick said smiling
"it doesn't matter, I just trust you" Joan said
when they got back to Joan's hostel
" so officially in college first year" Nick said smiling
"I guess I am" Joan said
"how's the feeling" Nick asked
"I'm supposed to feel a little bit nervous but strangely am not, I guess it's because you are here" Joan said and Nick stopped smiling
"Joan! you know you shouldn't depend on me too much, I will try to be there for you when you need me but let it not get to you that I will always be there for you. I will help you if I can but learn to live on your own ok, use this opportunity to learn not to depend on others but on yourself ok" Nick said
Joan seemed sad for a moment but covered it with a smile
"of course I know, I came to this college because I wanted to use you as a cover, if I went to another college you know our parents might visit me regularly but here with you they will give me some space" Joan said
"good girl" Nick said
"uhm can you help me arrange this place" Joan asked
"of course I will"
and with that they arranged the place whilst talking and having fun, after they were done with it
"relax and enjoy, tommorow studies starts. on your and my free periods I will take a stroll with you around the campus ok" Nick said
"ok"
"hey, uhm since it's just the two of us here how about we not treat each other as siblings" Nick said
"what do you mean" Joan asked
"I mean let's tell people that we are just best friends and nothing about our family ok" Nick said
"ok."
"this is why I love you" Nick said smiling and hugging Joan
"so rest early, tommorow I will see you" Nick said and left
Joan wanted to ask him to stay for that night since she wasn't comfortable sleeping alone but he left before she could even get the chance to.
