chapter thirty five

"so how do you feel about your hand" his father said

"don't worry dad, I'm ok, so far as it's still working and Joan is ok basketball can wait for sometime" he said smiling

indeed he was least worried for his hand although during the time things became tough he found peace in playing basketball but Joan was more important and he could sacrifice it over and over again just for Joan.

a week passed and they were both out of the hospital and doing fine, although Nick couldn't play for now he was alright,

one-day when they were eating at Joan's place,

Nick's mom asked Joan if she has gotten herself a boyfriend, she choked and looked at Nick but he said nothing and kept his head down.

Joan answered

" not yet but I'm planning on getting myself one,"

Nick stopped eating but his head was still down

"I wanted mom's permission first"

"you're now old to make your choices, so you can go ahead" her mom said

Joan watched Nick and she wanted him to say something but he kept quiet and she was saddened by it

when her mom gave her the permission, he wanted to protest that she was still young but what right did he have.

Nick had planned a surprise for Joan but it didn't come through,

vacation was over and they were back on campus, a lot was sad that Nick couldn't play for the time being and they wished him to recover quickly, he always watched as his friends played

ever since they returned from home Joan felt Nick was avoiding her, she hardly saw him and he never came around, but he always watched her from afar and that was enough although it killed him inside that Joan and Callum had become really closed.

one-day he went to see Joan and it seemed his friend followed him

he watched Joan behaving silly and he smiled, he further walked with Joan and Joan almost fell down, he almost rushed towards her but someone held his hand.
