EPISODE 60; THE TWELVE NOBLE PROFESSIONS PART VI: BRIDGE BUILDING PART II: THE ORIGINS OF THE TRANSCONTINENTAL TRANSIT SYSTEM PART II: THE CONSTRUCTION OF TRANSIT ISLANDS

Ciella and I had returned to the Coast after exploring the Sea for a bit. As we explored, our Maps gradually expanded to include all the new locations we'd been to.

"Ciella, how do you find the new flight suit?" I asked.

"I wish I didn't have to flap around so much. It's really exhausting" she sighed tiredly.

"Hmm, I suppose I'll have to make slight adjustments to the flight functionality and alter the ability from flight generated by flapping your hands to an automated flapping mechanism that increases in frequency through the measurement of muscle contractions instead" I said and made adjustments to Ciella's flight suit, then I handed it back to her.

"Now all you need to do is tense your muscles if you wish to flap your wings. The strength and rapidness of the flapping will be determined by how much you tense your muscles. First, I just need to gauge your physical strength. Relax your muscles as much as you can" I said.

Ciella obeyed.

I assigned an 'at rest' reading to this.

"Now, I want you to tense your muscles as much as you can" I said.

Ciella obeyed.

"I assigned a 'Max. Tension' reading to this. Then I generated a metre with figures between the 'At Rest' reading and the 'Max. Tension' reading. This metre measured how much force Ciella wanted the wings to put into flapping. She could control her balance and direction by altering the position of her hands and wings. Whenever she wanted to glide, she would relax her hands and extend them spreading her wings while the reading was 'At Rest'. When the readings displayed 'At Rest', the openings to the hollow framework would shut trapping the air within the framework to generate buoyancy. Whenever she wanted to ascend, she'd tense her muscles and the wings would flap rapidly depending on how tensed up her muscles were.

Thanks to this upgrade, she could conserve HP and MP and so could I. This allowed us to explore a bit further out to Sea. We'd always begin our return journey whenever our HP or MP hit half of the full figure. Thanks to our ability to fly, we were able to explore the entire continent within a matter of four months roughly with regards to the Game's Clock and Calendar. We'd still come no closer to discovering any nearby continents though.

We finally returned to the Peristylium with a full map of the Continent's Coastal Regions and as far out to Sea as we'd explored. Our people came to welcome us.

After a day of rest, we assembled the leaders of the Agricultural and Construction Agencies and assigned new directives to them. Those in charge of Agriculture were to hunt for durable trees that had Waterproof Barks as well as Tar Pits. Those who specialized in Knowledge And Logic were to study the Principles behind Flotation and Pulley Systems. The Pulleys I knew we'd need for the actual construction process. When the Agricultural Team discovered a durable tree with a Waterproof Bark, they'd study the tree for months to see how it was propagated, then they'd replicate the process.

Thanks to this, they created groves dedicated to cultivating those specific categories of trees in order to avoid exhausting our resources through deforestation. Next, the Builders would cut the trees into suitable shapes, dry them and hollow a number of them out.

"What are they doing San? They seem to be designing those hollowed out frameworks you mentioned earlier were used for flying. I see…flotation huh?" Ciella realized.

I nodded. I assigned the Blacksmiths to construct anchors as well. Pulley Systems were built by the Builders to make construction easier through the lifting of heavy construction materials.

After roughly five months, the structure was complete. It was a very humongous island, far bigger than any ship. Its hull contained a hollow chamber within that was pumped full of helium gas thanks to the Scientists amongst the group that is, the Knowledge And Logic Specialists. The chamber was airtight. Above the hull and all about it were horizontal hollow raft-like frameworks made out of Waterproof Hollowed-Out Wood. These structures were meant to reinforce Flotation and the hollowed out raft-like framework also acted as a balance to keep the ship both afloat and upright. The hull also contained pools above it for Fish Farms as well as deep pools of fertile earth for the cultivation of crops. Anchors had been attached to the island to secure it once it arrived at its destination in the Ocean. There were other raft-like frameworks that were joined to the pumps operated by internal Pulley Systems. These worked to move the island by pumping out massive amounts of Water behind it to generate propulsion.

Aside from that, other smaller Auxiliary islands had been constructed as well. Once the main island was sent out to Sea, the auxiliary islands would be sent after it and would be connected to one another via strong Jointed Bridges. Once out in the middle of the Ocean, the Auxiliary Islands would be fused to the Main Island.

We calculated the required distance from the Mainland to the location where the Island would be anchored by measuring it against half of our current MP and HP. The island's main purpose was to serve as a Food Supply Station as well as a Fuel Supply Station in the near future.

Over the months, we constructed more islands and sent them further than the previous island was sent. The distance between each island was measured against roughly half the time it took for our HP and MP to be completely exhausted.
