Chapter 39: Planning the Trap

“That’s good news. We can try to canvas the city then.” The tall dark and handsome male Alpha perks up, looking more alive than he had all morning.

“I was thinking we could try to lure them out, sort of what they do in mystery books,” I suggest. Roxy next to me tenses up.

“What do you mean?” Rivkah asks, squinting at me like she’s figuring out a puzzle.

“Well, they’re thieves, so we can display my phony medallion out to set a trap for them. Even if they get my pendant, we can try to follow them back to where they have Donovan’s.” I put my phone away, finding my calm resolve.

“Mack has a point. There’s a chance they’re trying to steal other Alpha medallions. With Rivkah’s medallion safe in New Brighton City, and the Phoebe pack’s Alpha medallion more likely safer than your family’s, your medallion is ripe for the picking, Mack.” Roxy’s voice lilts and caresses me like dark velvet.
