Chapter 90

Warmth spread around me like an embrace by a loved one. In the far distance, I could hear soft crackling noises. I lay afloat on my back in the tide. It pushed me to and from the shore. Never letting me get too close but also not too far.

I had fallen from the sky into the water. There was only a small island with a glint of what I assumed was the campfire that I could hear.

At first, I tried my hardest to swim to the island but each inch that i got closer, keeping afloat got harder. In the end, I let the waves carry me around, not caring where I wind up anymore. At times, I wondered if it would be easier to sink into the water and end this confusing suffering. No, I wanted to end my journey. But if there was a way to see Alastair again, I would keep living.
