XXVII

Jess was the first to wake, only an hour after being put in the cell. When she first awoke, she stayed laying down. She laid there listening to her surroundings. When she was sure their captors weren't currently present, she slowly sits up and looks at

her surroundings. After one quick glance, she didn't even bother looking for a way out as she noticed at once she and the others had been shackled to the wall in a cell the likes of those seen in text books of the ancient kings.

So she just sat and watched as her comrades and the other prisoners slept. At some point she heard footsteps approaching and quickly shut her eyes, feigning unconsciousness. Suddenly the footsteps stopped outside the cell door and then with a click, it swung open and the footsteps approached her stopping just in front of her. And then He spoke:

" I know you 're awake. No use pretending. Come with me. I have some questions for you."

The voice was deep and entrancing, like that of a dark prince and without saying a word, she stood up and allowed Him to change her shackles and then lead her from her cell. At first as she walked, she tried to get a look at her captor but He was covered in a black robe from head to toe. He wore leather gloves on his hands and a black plague doctor's mask to hide his face. So instead she tried to memorize the route he lead her on yet soon gave up on that as well as she got more lost with each twist and turn through the maze of cells and corridors they walked down.

Soon they arrived outside a small door which he proceeded to open and gesture for her to enter. Jess hesitated for only a second before entering the room. A quick glance around showed it was empty save a table and two chairs, placed opposite of each other.

" Please sit," He said, gesturing to the table and two chairs.
