Eve Largman

PART 1: A NEW MEMBER

Ever since the Elemental citizens had been split into three countries, 300 years ago, there was no official contact between them.

For the past 300 years, Elemental Lands elected a president who would guide them. Eve Largman was the only daughter of the current President. The life of a public figure's son or daughter was not easy. The attention was on them all the time. There were minute details of their lives which were declared in the media. These topics included the subjects they chose at the Academy, whom they are friends with, how many days they skipped class or what grade they got.

Eve hated all of that. And on top of all, her father asked her not to join the E. A. A. The reason was simple from his side. If she went on missions or battle, everyone would defend her instead of carrying out their mission. Also that he would never forgive himself if something happened to her.

Eve was taking this decision for the good of everyone. She was one of the sharpest minds of her age. Everyone acknowledged her for that. She was not joining to fight but to guide the troops with a proper plan on any mission or force management.

Even though she had discovered her Elemental Powers when she was 6, she could not use them after a tragic event when she was 9. She hated to remember that event or to try to use her Elemental powers which reminded her of that. She only relied on her mind to rank amongst the top 5 at the Elemental Academy.

Eve got involved in an argument with her father and left home for a little while. She asked him to control the media's attention and in exchange, she won't join the Association.

There she was, at Master Wyngaf's house. Raymond got his attention back in a second. He said to her,

"Um — yeah. He's inside."

Eve waited as Raymond did not ask her to enter. After a few seconds, she gestured to let her enter.

"Oh — yeah, of course — come in."

Raymond had no idea she was a friend or foe, that's why he did not ask her to enter first. Eve entered the house anyway. She was baffled when she saw Katie lying on the couch with her face covered with a cushion. Katie did not move even when she heard Eve.

"What's with her?" Eve asked Raymond.

"Let's not bother her for some time. She just lost her only hope to live," Raymond said.

"Oh — " Eve made a sad face. "I'm so sorry to hear. By the way, who died?"

Raymond gestured from his arms and said, "Oh, no. No one died. She just — "

Katie stopped Raymond with her dramatic entry. She got up from the couch, still hugging the cushion.

"Yes, I lost an important part of my life," she said, "The sweet beautiful treat of delicious cakes was taken away from me."

"Um — Cake?" Eve gave her best to understand.

"Never mind her," said Raymond.

"The only place I can have that treat is my dream," Katie said, she closed her eyes, hugged the cushion tightly and bit the pillow.

"Stop this, Katie, you're embarrassing us," Raymond said.

Eve was confused but she laughed. "It's nice to meet you, Katie, I am Eve."

When Katie seemed lost in her dream world, Eve pushed her glasses up her nose and turned to see Master Wyngaf coming out of his room. Master Wyngaf halted and looked around. He stopped at the scene where Katie was trying to eat the pillow and Raymond was scolding her. He said,

"You're washing that, Katie."

Master Wyngaf turned to Eve and said, "I suppose you have met Raymond and Katie."

"Yes. Good people," Eve replied.

Master Wyngaf turned towards Raymond and Katie and said, "Raymond, Katie, meet Eve Largman, she's the daughter of the President."

Raymond's attention quickly diverted to Eve now. He was shocked so asked, "Great. Does the President's daughter get to roam freely here?"

Raymond realised that he gave out the fact that he belonged to Human Earth. He clicked his tongue to stop.

"It's okay, Raymond," said Master Wyngaf, "Eve is one of those who don't hate Human Beings."

"Great," Raymond excitedly extended his hand forward and said, "Nice to meet you then."

"Nice to meet you too," Eve said, shaking hands with Raymond. "And no, the President's daughter does not get to roam this freely, I am the only exception, and this is new for me too."

Katie was still busy chewing her cushion thinking of it as a cake.

"Look, Eve," said Master Wyngaf to Eve with seriousness, "I know what you're here for, but I can't allow it."

"I have a fair proposal if you wish to listen," said Eve.

Master Wyngaf gave it a thought and said, "Okay. But we're talking it out in private. I don't want innocent people in your nasty plans."

Master Wyngaf looked at Raymond and Katie. Eve smiled and said, "You got it."

Master Wyngaf led the way to his room and Eve followed. Raymond looked at them leaving.

PART 2: THE SITUATION

After entering Master Wyngaf's room, he waved his finger and the door shut.

"Talk," he said.

"Dad won't let me participate in Battlelyte," Eve said directly what was important, "so I decided we need to stay away from each other for a while."

"I know this," Master Owens said. He knew Eve had a right to decide what she wanted to do with her life, but he also knew Eve was popular, if the media figured out where she was, they would be crawling all around the place. And he did not want to expose Raymond and Katie's whereabouts.

"I know your concerns, so I prepared for it," Eve said.

Master Wyngaf sighed, he tiredly shook his head and said, "What did you do this time?"

"Nothing much," she said. "I made a deal with my father. I asked him to control the media and I'd not participate in Battlelyte. Also, that I'd keep one of his secrets to myself."

Master Wyngaf sighed again, he said, "Where do you get all these ideas? Blackmailing your own father? Despicable!"

"He started it," Eve said with an evil smile, " so I learned from him and made a full counter." She turned serious and said, "Master, I just need a place to stay, you don't need to make me your student or anything. I talked to Master Kirason, but she said she can't let me stay at the Academy dorm as I am not a student anymore."

"She does have a point," said Master Wyngaf, thinking what to do. "Okay! You can stay here but on one condition."

"I have my stuff in my car out there, so I will accept everything you place on the table," Eve said.

"I want you to stay as far away as possible from Raymond and Katie," Master Wyngaf said loud and clear. "I don't want your nasty plans to involve them. Got it?"

"Totally," Eve said, "I will stay away from them, they are of no use to me."

"Good, and it should stay that way," said Master Wyngaf

Out in the drawing room, Raymond turned to Katie. She was still trying to eat that cushion. He grabbed the cushion and snatched it from her teeth grip. Katie placed her hand over her mouth and uttered,

"Ouch!"

Raymond swung the cushion up and hit it on Katie's head.

"Ouch!" said Katie again.

Raymond sat on the couch beside Katie, he threw the cushion on another couch.

"Why are you doing this?" he asked.

"What?" asked Katie with an innocent grin.

"You know what," Raymond said, "this — behaving like a funny comic character?"

Katie smiled and rested her head on Raymond's shoulder.

"You know the reason, Ray," she said normally, "I had told you that we get a clean slate by living here. I'm not going to repeat the same mistake of hiding my true self again. I have tried it. If you can't get attention, you'll be lonely. And I don't want to be lonely ever again."

Raymond tried to look at Katie's face but she did not turn her head.

"Katie, you're more than a sister or a best friend to me," Raymond said. "You will never be alone, I'll always be with you, by your side."

"I know," Katie said, looking into Raymond's eyes, "I'll do the same for you, Ray."

Raymond kissed Katie's forehead. She smiled.

The door to Master Wyngaf's room opened, Eve walked out. She saw Raymond and Katie and thought she had ruined a moment of privacy.

"Sorry," she said.

"It's nothing like that," said Katie.

"Yeah, don't worry about it," said Raymond.

"Okay," said Eve, "Would you two mind helping your new friend getting her stuff inside?"

"We can surely help you," said Raymond, getting up. "Are you going to stay here?"

"Yes," said Eve, "For the time being, I am."

"I will surely help you," said Katie, "and, I know you will surely treat me to cake."

Raymond slapped his forehead. Katie never forgot to mention others how much she liked cake. Eve's face was still confused, but she put up a smile and said,

"Okay, whatever you ask for."

PART 3: Spies

Zooming out from the view of the Beach house, two figures were standing far away in the green lands. Jade and Rebecca. Jade was a Dark Master from Koyaku, Rebecca was his 19-year-old student. They saw the beach house, also the red car Eve had parked in front of it.

Rebecca had a dagger tied to her thigh. Jade had a sword sheathed and tied to his waist under his dark blue cloak with black flames patterns. Master Owens's sky blue cloak had white colored flame patterns on it. The two nations chose different outfits.

"Shouldn't we attack now?" asked Rebecca. "They're unaware of us. This is the best chance, Master." She was excited to fight and show her strength.

"That would be foolish," said Jade. "We will observe for now. Additionally, we don't want a fierce fight, with their Master Walden Wyngaf in the house, we won't be able to avoid that."

Rebecca calmed down. She took a deep breath and said, "When we do get them, let me take care of them."

"We will see about that," Jade said, "At their current skill, there is no problem for us."

Far in the view, they saw Raymond, Katie, and Eve coming out of the house and taking some bags and books from Eve's car and carrying those in.

"Who's the red-haired girl with them?" Rebecca asked in confusion.

"I know who she is," Jade's face was almost frozen. "The plan has changed. For now, let's see how powerful they grow."

Jade walked deeper into the tall grasses, Rebecca followed, they soon vanished from sight.
