“Ashley, what is going on?” June whispered as Ashley pushed her from behind.
“I can’t talk to you,” Ashley responded.
June sighed and looked toward the others. Dream was getting shoved every now and then by some dude dressed like he was born in the eighties. Jace was getting dragged by a cyclops because Jace wouldn’t walk fast enough.
“Ashley,” June whispered again, but she was caught trying to talk this time.
“My daughter won’t speak to you, June,” the old man said, popping out from nowhere. “She knows better than to betray her father.”
“Why are you doing this?” June asked, keeping Ashley in view as she spoke.
“Doing what?” the man asked.
“Why are you working with monsters and attacking other half-bloods?” June asked, watching Ashley cringe in the corner of her eye.
“I’m recruiting half-bloods, not trying to hurt them,” the man answered. “As for the monsters, they are strong creatures who hate the Gods and Goddesses.”
