Chapter 29: Releasing the Captives

“Alayna, you’re friends with Maz and Scion,” Commander Conner said. “Why don’t you come with me? Maz Younger, Nala, Wren, Nessa, you too.”

They followed the turns and the hallway until they stared into the prison.

“Do you know the code?” Commander Conner asked, eying the code pad.

“N377A,” Alayna said.

“I should have known,” he muttered.

He stopped a second to punch in the code, and the doorway cleared.

“You’re free,” Alayna said. “The war is off. Bryce has to follow the orders from Maz’s father.”

Maz, Rowan, Scion, and Ashyn stood from their seats. Maz scooped up Nala and Maz Younger.

“Contact Raylay and Ty,” Nessa ordered. “Tell them to release the humans they took as prisoners.”

Maz selected the live video communication app.

“Rayley,” he said. “Ty. Story. Alec, the war is over. The humans surrendered. My adoptive father gave the orders. It’s time to release your prisoners. Captain Nader is coming to get everyone.”
