A Deal

Sevir hauled himself out, landing on his face as usual. This time, he had some strength to snatch the cloak from the side and pull it over himself.

His hand brush another.

“Thank you,” he said.

“Those who have survived peril together become friends. Why do you not trust us still?” he heard Princess Kamiko as she came out, water splashing everywhere. The one that landed on his naked calves sizzled away, embarrassingly. He turned away, curved within his cloak and closed his eyes.

As soon as the princess was out, Lady Rou went in. This wasn’t a competition between them like they usually loved to do. They were keeping an eye on him. Yesterday’s incident had given everyone a lot to think about.

“Your purpose to help me is unclear.”

“As you said, it was an exchange. Healing for journal and saving you for saving us last time.”

She walked over and sat in the same place Lady Rou left from. “Those journals hold more valuable information than what I told you.”
