Protected Maze

Bailong knew he was not about to deter from the plan already laid out for him. However, sitting in the blind, not knowing where all the pieces went, made him uneasy.

“Maybe Sevir has heard something.” Qinglong said.

Bailong looked across the room where Sevir usually stood, leaning against the wall, eyes far away. Now that Kamiko was not standing anywhere near him, he looked at leisure. Usually, Sevir was cautious of any presence, looking around the room, always listening. Bailong walked over, ready to disrupt his thoughts.

“Smile a little.” Qinglong snickered. Bailong shook his head. He had come across as nice to others, but to Sevir he had always been tolerant and straightforward, if ever. It was all credit to Qinglong’s jealousy and Sevir’s straightforwardness.

Sevir’s eyes focused on him as he approached and raised a brow. Sevir’s face, he noted, had always been expressive. They had rarely interacted willingly before.
