Two Plans

Sevir remembered the time had seen his mother, seen RuIng, witnessed the cave and witnessed the oddity of transmigration. Every time, it began with the warmth in his hands; the heat absorbed by the crystal, large or small, upon being asked, showed him what he wanted to see. It was the same for RuIng too.

Sevir looked at the map in his hands. It was a map of the entire planet, as known to RuIng. Apart from the piece of land in the middle, there was an island in the water and a large piece of land at the very bottom, not reflected at the top, as if people still thought the world was flat.

He pushed the map up to make room for the crystal and the fire. In his hands, the crystal kept absorbing the fire, showing no end. When he thought he had done it long enough, he put the crystal down and called.

“Mother?”

Something inside the crystal’s surface flickered; no image surfaced. Sevir flipped through the pages and caught a different word. “Pearl of Toru?”
