Olivia's Team

After only half an hour the first person from Olivia's team to walk into his office was nonother than the captain herself, Olivia. The short girl with black eyes and hair walked into his office with her chest held high and a big grin on her face. James didn't even have to ask for a report to know that her quest went pretty well.

"So, Olivia, before I start telling you what's on the agenda next, tell me how the Tier 1 promotion went, although I have a pretty good guess when looking at your face."

Hearing this Olivia's grin became even wider.

"It went amazing, just like you asked I got a 110% completion. The number of Legacy skill points I got was 50, and just like you told us I didn't spend a single one of them. While doing the quest, I did look out for items and things like that, but I didn't get anything."

James got bombarded as Olivia talked seemingly as fast as possible, she was clearly excited and proud to tell him. As she should be, getting an SSS-grade completion was something he had only heard rumors about, only young masters who had their whole foundation planned out by their high-ranking father could even attempt to get such a ranking. James wasn't that pressed about the item part as he had already predicted this, none of the members of his guild except for him and Iron had special classes, so it was very likely that they couldn't get extra rewards even when completing the quest with an SSS-grade.

"Calm down Olivia, you did very well. Now about the personal goals I want you to reach before we attempt our Tier 2 promotion ques, I will be talking about the general quests we will do a little later to everyone at once. I first want you to practice some of the combat techniques I will be passing you, 2 footwork techniques in particular. I presume you know what combat techniques are?"

Olivia nodded in excitement.

"Yea, they are some kind of martial arts techniques in the game right, but I thought it would still be some time before we could get our hands on them. O, and what grade are they?"

As a true combat fanatic, Olivia was clearly excited to learn combat techniques.

"Silver and Advanced Silver if I'm correct, but before you freak out let me continue. The second thing I need you to do is become an Advanced Magician. It would be perfect if you could reach Master Magician but Advanced is the minimum standard because I will be activating the free combat system. This also couples in the third thing, I want you to practice all your skills to a 90% completion rate at the very minimum."

Olivia's excitement dwindled a little when hearing that, she hadn't learned any magic arrays before, but it didn't seem like she would enjoy it.

"Don't be like that Olivia, when the free combat system releases and you want to activate any assassin skill that has to do with magic, you will see how important the magician subclass is in battle. Let me tell you a little secret, if you manage to become a Great Grandmaster magician, no Grandmaster mage class player will be able to release magic that uses arrays against you. Making you practically unstoppable against them."

"Really?"

The light in her eyes brightened yet again, James didn't have the heart to tell her that Great Grandmaster Magician was so hard to reach that there weren't even 5 in the starlight realm. but motivation is motivation.

"Yes, really. Now go and sent the next Team Olivia member."

Before she could leave James told her one more thing.

"Before you leave Olivia, I will be revealing the secret about God's Domain to everyone, are there any of your team members that you think will have a difficult time believing me."

Olivia had a little shock before replying.

"eeeeh, no, I don't think so, every one of them respects you even more than me and the other commanders, I made sure of that. So, if you tell them that they will not doubt you."

Before continuing she had a little hesitation on her face.

"Say, James, you're not going to tell them about, you, are you?"

James just sighed and shook his head.

"No, I don't trust them on that level yet. Plus, I decided to only reveal it to a small number of people to keep the chances of my secret spreading to a minimum. But maybe in the far future when I'm already at the top, maybe then. Now go and get the next person."

Olivia seemed to sigh with relief while leaving his office, clearly also worried for James. He couldn't help but feel that he made the right choice to trust her.

Only a few minutes after that, the second person came in. A young girl with dark hair with a tint of green. She seemed to be a little nervous but for the most part full of curiosity and a little shyness. James recognized this young woman as Marie Fowler, also known as Lone leaf, an Elementalist with a true talent for magic. If he remembers correctly, she would go on to become a Great Grandmaster Magician for an apex power.

"Marie, I don't believe we had a proper one-on-one conversation until this point, I am truly sorry for that, but you have to understand that I was incredibly busy, so excuse me for my rudeness up until now."

Marie sat down across from James and looked at him with green eyes full of admiration and curiosity.

"Don't worry about it, mister Matthews, I know that you are busy."

James gave her a light smile before continuing.

"Call me James, I might be your boss, but our team isn't big. Now to move on to your report, after that I have some important things to tell you."

Marie nodded and started rambling the report she had gone over so many times for the last half an hour.

"I managed to get the SS grade ranking you asked for and got 25 Legacy skill points. Just like you told us I didn't spend any of them. As for the items you asked for, I'm sorry but there really wasn't anything. One thing that is good though is that I think my understanding of mana has gone up by a considerable amount during the trial."

James smiled at her while he recorded everything inside his smartwatch, the item part was a given now that he knew that even Olivia with an SSS grade rating didn't get any. The mana part was a nice add-on, of course, he had expected nothing less from a future Great Grandmaster Magician.

"Good job Marie, I expected nothing less than from someone as talented as you. Now to move on to some more important things, first of all, I want to go over the personal goals I want you to achieve before we are even going to begin talking about Tier 2. The first of those is becoming a Master Magician, that isn't easy, but I believe in you. This ties into our second goal, the combat system will be changing to Free mode in some time, I believe you know what that means. So, I want you to achieve 90% completion on all your skills and spells as well as start to learn how to double/triple cast and silent cast. Those last 2 things are going to be incredibly hard at Tier 1 so there is no pressure to achieve them, just get your foot in the door and start, if you are stuck you can train with charlotte."

Marie just nodded with a nervous look on her face before she stuttered something out.

"I will do my absolute best."

She was clearly not confident in herself when hearing the big demands James made.

"Don't worry about it, Marie, I know what you are capable of, and this is something you can do."

Waiting a couple of seconds to let her calm down, James started talking again when he saw that she had some confidence in herself once again.

"Before I reveal what the second thing is that I want to talk to you about, have you noticed something weird about God's domain, especially when it comes to mental strength in the real world?"

Marie immediately started talking, like this had been in the back of her mind the whole time.

"YES, I feel it increasing even though I did nothing but increase my Tier in-game."

"That's right, this game is special, but even more special than you can imagine Marie. The Green God's company didn't make this game in fact but were given it by a higher race."

James waited a couple of seconds to see if she had any Input, but Marie was just sitting there with her ears perked up.

"But this isn't the biggest shock, our little God's domain world is in fact not the only one. There are millions of God's domains all connected to different universes and planets. All of these words link together through the Greater God's Domain. Ours will connect to it in about 10 years. At that moment, not only the virtual world but also the real one will be connected to a vast universe of other planets. This real-life world is called the Greater World and as you could guess, God's domain power and mental power rule there."

Now done with his crude explanation James waited for Marie to recover before continuing.

"The reason I'm telling you this is because I'm planning on entering the Greater world before our worlds merge. That means we will leave behind our families and loved ones for some time. I just wanted to give you guys some time to accept it."

It took another minute before Marie recovered.

"So, is it really necessary to leave before everyone else?"

Marie said without doubting James's words in the slightest. James found it reasonable that she was a little nervous to leave her family and friends behind, she was only 18 after all.

"The details will come later, but don't think of it as abandoning them, think of it as setting up a foundation in the greater world so that your family will not have to suffer as many others who don't have big achievements in God's domain. I know that this journey seems a lot longer and bigger than the one you were expecting. So, are you still with me?"

James said with a confident voice while sticking out his hand, although he seemed confident, he was still a little nervous about her response. All of his worries were for nothing though as Marie shook his hand almost immediately.

"Of course, I'm with you James, if the world is going that direction either way, I would rather be on board with a captain I can put my trust in like you."

"That means a lot Marie, thank you. There will be a big meeting later so don't go too far, you can send the next person."

The next person that walked into his office was a young man named Ray Hayes, also known as the shield warrior Dark Past in-game, a normal-looking man other than the fact that he was a little buffer than the average 18-year-old. Just looking at how he carried himself James could tell that Ray was a man that put facts over feelings.

"I don't believe we have ever had a real conversation Ray, sorry about that but it couldn't be helped, take a seat."

Ray obliged without saying a word, seating himself opposite James.

"You may give your report if you're ready Ray."

Ray nodded.

"I managed to get the SS evaluation you were looking for sir, and I got 23 Legacy skill points which are still unspent as per your request. No items or the like were anywhere to be found in the quest, but I did gain some insight and I believe I reached the first level in the realms of truth."

Short and to the point, just like James liked it.

"That's great Ray, good job. Your next individual goal will be to reach the rank of Advanced Magician, which will help you shortly when the free combat system will be released. When that is released, I expect you to train until you have a skill completion rate of at the very least 90%. All of these goals must be completed before you attempt your Tier 2 promotion quest."

James waited a moment and took a deep breath before revealing the truth behind god's domain in the same way as he did to Marie, only Ray didn't react that strongly, like he wasn't surprised in the slightest. After Ray agreed to follow James in this bigger world, he decided to ask Ray.

"Aren't you in the least bit surprised Ray?"

James asked, a little puzzled."

"Well, I already had suspicions that this game couldn't be made by the Green God's company so it being made by some higher being was only slightly out of my expectations. To add to that, I was already a firm believer in the multiverse theory before I ever heard of God's domain, so I guess the shock got dampened a bit."

James just sighed.

"You may go, Ray. There will be a meeting in the near future so don't go running too far."

Ray nodded and went to grab the next person on Olivia's team.
