Chapter no.89 Frustration and Friction

[ POV Change ]

The cool morning air brushed against my face as Nayara and I ascended the worn stone staircase nestled within the heart of the ancient forest. The trees loomed above us like giants, their branches stretching out to touch the heavens above.

My brushsquirrel nestled in the crook of my arm, purring softly before letting out an annoyed squeak as I tightened my embrace. I leaned down to plant a gentle kiss on its furry head, but the creature took the opportunity to scratch my face playfully. Wincing, I smiled at my little companion, who seemed to revel in the mischief.

Nayara eyed us both, her brow arched in amusement. "Is this really as big of a deal as you're making it out to be?" she asked, her tone lighthearted.
