Day Three #5

The difference in strength and the numbers which the goblins had compared to the group Inis had could easily be described as a big gap between them which would put her group in danger if they confronted them.

The main variable which had turned the tables in the battle was that Inis had entered many low level dungeons which featured goblins, hobgoblins, orcs and trolls in large numbers.

Not every dungeon was so easy to overcome with individual or group strength and required certain elements of luck and strategy to overcome them.

Taking on large groups was asking for death in her current condition so she had to think back to her experiences from when she was still a low level starting out.

When there was a cave or similar place which the creatures gathered in, it was best to trap them inside and set a fire inside which would cause the smoke to fill the insides.

Those trapped inside would suffocate or be burned before they had broken through the entrance unless there was one strong enough to clear the way for them.

All creatures that needed air to breathe, no matter how strong would be affected by the strategy unless they had some kind of immunity to allow them to survive and resist the effects.

When herbs were burned which had effects to poison, weaken or put them to sleep within the cave, the cave would be filled with that effect which would greatly affect their combat power.

That effect made up for the fact that there was not enough time to block off the entrance to the cave and prevent their escape.

Since they were running through the fire and up the slanted pathway, they had more difficulty getting out.

Those that did were already greatly weakened and despite their desperation, they could not put up a fight against opponents weaker than them even with their greater level or stage of strength.

The cave had not been blocked off completely so none had suffocated but many had fallen into a deep sleep within the cave while those that had reached the entrance had died.

The four Gremlins saw the bodies which were very attractive to them because of the strong energy contained within their bodies so they began to devour everything they could until they were full.

Their ability to eat just about anything was very useful but it could not be compared to a gluttony type skill which would allow those who had it to have an unlimited stomach.

Once the energy in their bodies had reached the amount that their bodies could handle, they sat down to rest outside the cave so that they could adapt to and absorb the energy the best they could.

They did not have the same method to absorb the rampant energy in their bodies so they had to do as most other creatures like them would do.

They would rest or sleep while their bodies were adjusting to the changes brought by what they have eaten or absorbed.

Inis had eaten a lot of the level eight goblin then sat crosslegged as she slowly absorbed the energy which had slowly pushed her into level three once she had finished absorbing it all. 'If I continue then I might reach halfway or later into level three. While eating the flesh of higher level monsters would help me level up.. it is more dangerous to do so. Treants are difficult to hunt too but they are very rewarding… what I need is more things like the Treant's heart.'

While the effects of the level up were not immediate, she could feel the energy in her body that was much larger than before and it would take some time for her body to catch up and be strengthened by that energy.

Inis pointed to the entrance while putting a herb back into her mouth. "You. Guard!"

The flames were starting to die down so it was easy for her to clear a path for herself but before she had stepped through, Inis slashed at each of the throats of the goblins that lay on the ground.

When she went into battle against the remaining goblins, Inis had tried to get readjusted to the use of her mastery of the blade.

In order to prevent damaging the bone blades, she aimed to cut only the muscles and tendons as she had done in her dungeon days whether it was the legs or the arms.

Each of them had dropped the weapons and fallen down unable to walk while she could attack while most had their attention on the other four Gremlins who were recognised as the true threat or target of their attack.

As Inis walked into the cave, many necks were cut open by her blades as she passed by which caused the blood to spray out onto the walls or ground.

Each of the goblins were in too deep of a sleep to defend themselves no matter what their strength was.

Guar one and two were expertly controlled to slit their throats without a shred of mercy while a single tiny terror went deeper down into the passageway which lead to the main room.

Inis saw many weaker goblins laying asleep while there were some newborns which were a tiny bit smaller than them which were scattered among their bodies so she was able to identify that it was far from a small tribe of goblins which had occupied the cave.

The strong smell was unpleasant but the smell of the burned herbs had helped to cover it a little so she did not feel as bad as she should.

In the dungeon she was already used to seeing and experiencing such environments so she had developed a strong stomach.

In order to prevent any from waking up suddenly, the two blades were quickly slashed towards the throats of all that had laid there.

Even the goblin newborns which had almost grown to the size of the adults in a rapid pace after their birth had been shown no mercy because Inis was well aware of the danger they posed.

There was no such thing as a goblin that could be spared because they were excellent learners and would learn from their mistakes then use it against their enemies.

They were cunning and wicked creatures that would resort to the same methods to repopulate and rebuild their tribe which would be a danger to many lives once more.

With her own tribe close by, each and every one of them were a direct threat no matter how young or old, strong or weak they were.
