Inis had walked out of the cave and was greeted with the sight of a battle happening.
It was more like a one sided battle but the losing side was beginning to fight back.
A large pack of animals had jumped onto the bodies of the Gremlins and bit into their bodies while there was a strange laughter that came from the animals.
They were a pack of hyenas that had come from the forest closer to the Gremlins then had attacked once the Gremlins were not on guard.
The cackling laughter had spread along with the screams of the Gremlins who were torn to pieces without being able to resist.
A select few tried to push them off or bit the hyena that was on them but it was already too late.
The other Gremlins had been made aware of the attack and had become angry that their own kind had been slaughtered helplessly.
They ran over and attacked the hyenas that were too busy feasting on their prey. "Gik gik gik!"
The Gremlins jumped up onto the back of the hyenas and started to bite into them.
Their strong and sharp teeth easily tore into the flesh of the hyenas while their claws dug into the flesh and allowed them to hold on better.
The hyenas were struggling to shrug them off by making erratic movements and rolling around which had knocked one or two Gremlins loose.
More Gremlins had jumped on top and added to the chaotic battle, more strange cackling noises came from behind the trees and bushes then had added to the chaos further.
It was a mix of a head on battle mixed with the ambushing of the newer entries to the fight.
The two sides had not fought for that long and had already suffered casualties on both sides before Inis and those that were with her had stepped outside.
The Gremlins which had grown to a large population to be more than sixty had been reduced by a little over five while there were several that had been injured.
The hyenas had the advantage due to their builds being made to be more durable, stronger and quicker.
The hyenas were in a very feral state and were in a group of thirty but had lost three of their own while there were some that had been injured.
Even though the Gremlins had outnumbered them, the hyenas were showing that they had the advantage.
The hyenas had the natural combat advantage and they were better at adapting to their environment to catch their prey off guard.
The Gremlins were excited during their battle due to their natural desire for destruction but many of them that had fought had been torn to pieces die to them being less powerful than the hyenas and not making full use of their natural advantages they had over them like being able to wield weapons.
The blood had covered their bodies along with the markings that were created by the bites and scratches they had gained while the rest of the blood had dripped down onto the ground and was absorbed into the ground.
The individual power levels were difficult to distinguish among them all due to the messy combat that was made of up so many of them fighting among themselves and there not being that big of a gap between their power levels.
Their power levels were just about even but the hyenas were pushing the Gremlins back and were winning the battle despite being outnumbered.
That was until an arrow flew across the sky and pierced into the body of one of the hyenas that had pinned down a lone Gremlin outside of the cave which had caused it to let out a yelp.
Another hyena was pierced with a short spear that had been thrown into the air and there had been some other strange looking Gremlins that were different from the others which had began picking off the hyenas that had been separated from the group during the battle.
A bone shield had been slammed into one of the hyenas and knocked it off a Gremlin then it was stabbed while it was still down on the ground.
A bone axe was slammed into a hyena that jumped into the air towards one of the strange looking Gremlins.
More arrows flew across the sky and pierced into the bodies of more of the hyenas which helped to reduce the numbers of them or had injured them enough to provide support to the others.
One among the Gremlins had moved more swiftly and stealthily to catch the hyenas by surprise as the legs were slashed using her curved bone blades.
The more fragile and thinner legs at the bottom had been much weaker so instead of slicing the muscles alone, they had one or two of their paws removed from their back or side legs.
They lost their balance and whined in pain before a curved bone blade had sliced towards their throat as Inis was getting used to using her own style of combat that was most suited to her current skill.
The hyenas fell down from their standing position and were brought closer to the ground so that they could be executed by her blades.
Inis did not waste any time sticking around the dying hyenas that suffered a fatal injury then showed a cold look in her eyes as a wide grin appeared on her face which exposed her sharp teeth. 'This should help them figure out the importance of gaining more experience outside and actually using tools to assist them. The importance of my own group should rise after this but I cannot lose so many of them in this battle so I have to be careful. The best strategy would be to pick off those that have been separated first and then provide support to the others. The main issue right now is getting to the reason behind so many hyenas coming here to take the risk in this battle all of a sudden. Hyenas may be greedy and ravenous creatures but they still have basic self preservation instincts that most animals have. There has to be some reason behind why they are willing to take such a risk. I think it is time to slip away to find out what that is.'
