Day Twelve #6

Xeni had been brought up well by her family but there were certain expectations and responsibilities that were put on her shoulders very early on in her life.

It was difficult for her to make her own decisions and what her family decided had her own and her families interests in mind but it was quite suffocating at times.

Going out on her own was a way to rebel against the arrangements made for her future and the other strict ways of living that she had to follow.

Escaping and going off on her own was supposed to be her way of rebelling and showing her family that those arrangements were not suited to her and that she could find her own path.

Her parents did not understand her since a long line of succession had followed in the way everyone in the Satyr tribe did things and had come to accept their way of life.

Her mother and father had been arranged to be together and came to accept the arrangement just like everyone before them.

They may have had doubts but they were unable to go against their elders.

Xeni had done that but her hopes of proving them wrong had failed.

Her first time out in the world resulted in her being disgraced and if she returned home then she would only be confirming a lot of things that her parents had said.

She often imagined their scolding voices along with the disgusted looks in their eyes as they found out about what had happened to her followed by them telling her that she should have just done as they had arranged.

Xeni just wanted to experience the world outside of the space her family lived in and to find a compatible companion that she loved that was not arranged for her.

She still had not succeeded in any of it so she could not return back home to her family all alone in her current state.

She thought to herself as she gazed towards the direction of her family. 'If I return now then nothing good will come from it.. I want to be able to return after I accomplish something noteworthy or at least achieve one of my objectives.

The main issue is that many of my clan may encounter problems in the future that they cannot handle. The growth shown by Inis has been very fast and my own growth has been much faster since she gave me this training method so I cannot look down on her potential.

Most Gremlins are usually very stupid and mischievous while possessing a destructive and playful personality but Inis is different from them. She is actually quite intelligent and she does not possess those destructive tendencies.

Gremlins may pose some threat as a group but they are still very weak compared to many other creatures but Inis has shown that she possesses something else beyond my understanding to be able to easily deal with me.

She is loyal to those she fights along with and is willing to listen to others, she has treated me very well even though I had acted out of line earlier and she has not excluded me from the others in any way.

I do not know for sure if my decision will be correct in the future but I do feel that I am supposed to be here right now and that there is potential for something more when I am around Inis.

If I can later reach a stage to help out my clan and face them again then I feel that it should be possible with Inis. If there are any problems with my family or the clan then hopefully we can build enough power to be able to offer some help.'

Xeni had many thoughts running through her head before she finally gave a clear answer to Inis which had caused Inis to pause for a moment.

Xeni saw something in Inis that other Gremlins did not possess and the Gremlins born from her had been slightly different too so it was difficult to judge her as a creature that was in the same league of a goblin.

Xeni had experienced how dangerous Inis was firsthand so it was difficult for her to look down on her future potential.

Someone else may have taken a look at Inis and underestimated her but Xeni would not do so.

Inis had saved her from that hell and had provided her with hope towards having a better life and accomplishing what she had wanted to accomplish.

The dreams that had previously faded away due to her despairing situation of being captured by Goblins had been reignited.

Things were finally looking up for Xeni and she finally found someone outside of her clan that she could fight alongside and converse with so she did not wish to sever the new relationship she had gained by chance.

Inis responded calmly. "We will see about that in the future but if you wish to be able to ask for such things then I will need to know about your clan some more their current strength for example…

You have my word that I will not use this information for any malicious purposes and it is only to better understand what kind of scale of requests you may ask of me in the future if it is related to them."

Xeni nodded in understanding. "Hmm.. I think that there may be a few elders who have become forth grade while more have become third grade. A larger number of the population are either without power or are at the first and second stages.

My clan has been able to hold off many threats thanks to the clans power but they are not the only ones with such power. There are some allies and enemies that live in different territories."

Inis thought to herself. 'Not too bad but I do find one thing quite weird.. if a clan possessed such power then it should have been possible for them to move out to locate and bring her back.

Did they abandon her for going against them or did they just not have the manpower to be able to look into where she was due to some other reasons? I can understand that they would want to keep their power close to home to fend off threats but still…

I cannot help but think that perhaps it may be a good thing that Xeni has not decided to return. Perhaps she may not receive a warm welcome and may be unable to go against anything that is forced upon her since there is such a large difference in power.

They will not be so careless to let her get away a second time. Having a disgraced child who has caused problems will only result in her following arrangements being far worse than what had been decided earlier.

Perhaps she would be used to settle some conflicts with other clans or will be used to strengthen alliances. I understand that they may have just not been able to find her and this is me overthinking but I cannot help thinking something is odd about this.'

Inis pushed aside her thoughts and responded positively. "It sounds like a difficult task you would be giving me but if I have the power to do so and if it is possible to do so without suffering heavy losses then I will try to offer some support."

She was not at the stage where she was willing to risk her life again for another if the odds were not in her favour and not when it could cause casualties to those around her.

Xeni may have gotten closer to Inis but it was not enough to make Inis sacrifice what she was building up.

Whatever Inis was building up would be reduced to nothing if things went in the worst possible way.

She would have to start from zero yet again and raise up new batches of Gremlins which would severely impact whatever resources she had.

Inis gave an answer to Xeni that was more realistic and based on how successful she thought such a task would be.

If grade four Satyrs that were equivalent to level forty creatures in the dungeon followed by those beneath them could not solve a problem then it would be some time before she and those under her could offer some assistance to turn things around.

The gap in power between the twentieth level or second grade and the fortieth or forth grade of creatures was much too difficult to overcome that gap even for Inis and there was only one of her that could fight against those above her in terms of power level or species ranking.

Xeni heard the response and showed a small smile. "That is enough. I already know that I am already asking enough. To be honest… I may not even ask for the sake of the clan and it may just be related to my family but my family will most likely not wish to leave.."
