Inis came running straight towards a much larger creature which was a serpent that was big enough to be a threat against many who would come across it.
It seemed to possess thick scales and there were some areas where there were wounds left on its body from fighting many battles against other creatures and humans hunting it.
Inis has come across it and took note of its location while passing through so she knew where it be around.
The serpent looked like a variation of some kind of large python but it was much more dangerous due to its much larger size and its powerful venom it released when biting something.
It made itself look even larger as its front body rose up into a position where it was ready to strike towards Inis.
It would just take a single moment for it to strike a powerful bite into its prey before pulling the weakened form closer to crush with its body wrapped around it.
The toxins would weaken its prey greatly and they would soon have the venom spread enough for them to die from it so even if it failed to get ahold of its prey, it would not get too far away before collapsing.
The serpent leaned back gaining more power behind its body before whipping forward towards the smaller creature charging straight at it. "Hs!"
It seemed to be very proficient at striking those it targeted and knew when to strike to allow for it to reach and not miss.
Inis who was coming within range had nearly stepped within its range of attack so it readied itself before finally striking.
Meanwhile Inis was running forward and saw its movements. '3..2..1…"
It was like she was carefully calculating something based on the movements of the serpent based on its size, the terrain and many other factors involved.
Inis was too familiar will the typical habits, sizes, attack patterns and many others things about all sorts of creatures she had battled more than once.
She knew that defeating such a large serpent that had such tough scales would not be easy especially since it seemed to possess Aether Energy within it.
The Aether Energy within the serpent was not a small amount and it possessed more than Inis did.
It seemed to be among the creatures that belonged to the middle or upper parts of the realm she had just stepped into.
The energy levels coming off it were already higher than her own but there was a difference where Inis had been better than it and that was in terms of the quality between the two of them.
It looked like a battle was about to take place as the mouth of the serpent opened as it came towards Inis at a very fast speed.
Its fangs came out pointing towards her body but as if she had predicted it all, there was a slight shift in her movements allowing her to jump to the side out of the way.
A smirk appeared on the face of Inis showing her sharp teeth as she stepped further aside, her body started running again at full speed turning left from the direction she was heading straight towards the serpent.
The serpent was about to strike again but it sensed that Inis was nothing within striking range so it started to move along the ground to chase her as its body slithered forward.
By the time it had corrected its body posture to do so from its striking position, Inis had already got enough distance between them and kept running further disappearing from its sight between the trees and bushes in its path.
It still moved to chase Inis but there was something strange taking place as had something that had been pierced by its fangs and got stuck. "Hssss."
It grew annoyed that something was stuck on its fang but it was something that it could not solve right away so it continued the chase.
Just as it was moving a little from its position, more sounds came from the direction Inis came from and many creatures emerged in a frenzied state.
They showed no fear towards the large serpent and dashed together as a group to confront it. "Mrr!"
"Muuurgll!"
"Hrrlmrrgll."
A whole tribe or Murgles that inhabited the nearby water source had suddenly caught up to where Inis had been but instead of continuing their chase, they leapt forward with their strange weapons stabbing them out like spears and daggers towards the large serpent that started to fight back against them.
With a single whip of its tail, the serpent sent many crashing back from where they stood and a single bite was enough to kill.
The serpent was making every effort to defend itself as the Murgles were being injured and dying one after another.
They may have been in a frenzied state but they still possessed their instincts and cunning which made them able to adapt to the movements of the serpent.
Each death of their allies further let them have more opportunities to strike once the serpent was occupied allowing for them to stab their weapons into its scales.
"Hss!"
"Mrrrgl!"
"Mrrrllrrllrllrrll."
Each death of the Murgles caused the stench to deepen on the body if the serpent which made the Murgles to be even more vicious in their assault as they tried to find the best place to bring harm to the serpent.
