Day Thirteen #9

Unknown to those fighting, there was a figure that had already stopped on place after confirming she was no longer being chased.

A triumphant smile appeared on her face as she started to climb up higher in a nearby tree.

She pulled herself higher until she was able to get a much better view of her surroundings.

Inis saw the many Murgles surrounding the large serpent from all sides as they rushed in aiming to kill it. 'Hahaha it was successful. Those crazy things never fail to provide me entertainment.'

She saw a strip of the cloth hanging out of the side of the mouth of the larger serpent which showed that it still had it in its mouth and had possibly become stuck.

It did not matter for too long whether it remained or not since the scent of the Murgles were being spread during the battle that took place.

Each death of a Murgle resulted in the chances of the scent being added onto the body of the serpent who was unaware of the problem.

The serpent had become the target of Inis the moment she identified there being a Murgle population nearby.

Murgles usually lived as groups so they could not appear alone and they would have others following behind them if they did happen to come across something or someone when they came from the water first.

It was impossible to identify the size of the group of Murgles living nearby so Inis could only put her hopes on them being a decent sized community.

The scent and blood on the cloth was in her hands the whole time as she moved towards the territory of the larger serpent until the right opportunity presented itself.

Inis timed the strike of the serpent perfectly allowing her to avoid it but also leave behind the soaked cloth.

The soaked cloth was the only target left in place so it entered the mouth of the serpent and the scent began to be added to the serpent the longer it remained there.

The Murgles came in much larger numbers than what Inis had expected which caused her to be a little surprised but it was not completely bad news.

It was better for them to be on the more advantageous side of the battle.

Several Murgles seemed to possess similar levels of Aether Energy to Inis which meant that they were not weak individually.

As a group and in their frenzied state swarming the serpent, they started to tear through the thick scales stabbing their weapons into its body. "Mrrgl! Mrlmrl!"

The large serpent kept struggling with all it had in order to rid itself from the small pests that continued to bother it but it soon found itself feeling more danger from them. "Hss!"

There were some Murgles that were spitting some strange looking fluids onto their weapons which seemed to be their poisonous fluids.

Others were trying to attack the serpent with water bubbles or releases which was enough to distract it for a moment allowing others to land their attacks and gain opportunities to get to safety out of the way of the retaliation of the serpent.

The smaller sized Murgles let out strange war cries as they got back up after being harmed by the large body of the serpent. "MRRL! MRLMRGL!"

One was suddenly bit as the large mouth closed in on it catching it by its waist and pulling it in closer to be swallowed by the serpent.

Just as the serpent was pulling back, another Murgle jumped up towards the side of its head then brought its weapon down. "MRGL!"

The tip of its weapon pierced downward into the eye of the serpent causing it to pierce a little deeper inflicting a deadly wound.

Compared to the other attempts, that was the first time they had done such damage to the serpent in one strike. "Hss!"

The serpent writhed and thrashed around in pain upon being stabbed in such a vulnerable place then began to try to move its head around enough to throw its enemy away and possibly remove the weapon.

More Murgles saw success for the first time so they ran to support, they started to wield their weapons aiming towards the same position the weapon was located after one Murgle was thrown further away.

More deaths followed as the Murgles got too close to the serpent that was unwilling to go down without a fight until the movements dulled becoming slower.

Its blood loss had become very fatal to it and it was looking weaker with each passing second.

There were originally more than thirty Murgles but their group had been reduced to there only being six that looked to be able to survive.

All the others were either already dead or had been inflicted with a wound or venom so they would not be able to survive for long.

The serpent dropped down and stopped moving so the remaining Murgles approached it letting out war cries signalling their victory. "Mrrl!"

"Mrgl!"

"Grll!"

Just as they were celebrating, the dead and still serpent suddenly moved without warning and struck the leader of the Murgles that seemed to be the strongest among the survivors.

The Murgle struggled between the jaws of the serpent thrashing around in a panic until the jaw of the serpent loosened releasing it. "Mrlll!"
