Ideals and Reality

Takashi ran to the other street where the meeting place was, ready to meet Ian and Rico. There were only two squads that were reorganized. The two elite squads of the garrison corps and Takashi were a total of thirteen people.

Matabi had died and the remaining two members of his squad had been incorporated into Ian's squad.

The mop-up task this time is also very clear. After the Howitzers have eliminated most of the Titans gathered at the corners of the Trost district wall, the battle will be divided into four areas. The Survey Corps will send over three hundred soldiers to eliminate the Titans in three different areas, and the Garrison Corps soldiers will be responsible for fighting alongside them and maintaining a stable supply line.

The Garrison Corps selected the best two hundred soldiers relatively comparable to the elites to eliminate the remaining titans in the area.

The Survey Corps commander will be responsible for leading two areas and two of his sub-captains, and Levi's special operations team, is responsible for supporting each area at any given time and prioritizing the abnormal Titans.

The garrison corps is closely commanded by Captain Kitz, Ian leads two elite squads on the front line to create a special group that is responsible for eliminating abnormal titans, supporting other squads and saving soldiers to reduce losses.

When Takashi entered the small building where the elite squads rest, Rico was checking her three-dimensional maneuvering team on a table, while Ian was preparing some kind of tea.

Takashi asks Ian directly, "When will we act?"

Ian shook his head, "It's still early, we start fighting once the artillery takes out most of the titans near the wall.

Rico wiped her glasses and explained, "Howitzers are low on hits. Even if the titans are gathered under the wall, it will take a while to bombard them all. But after they have eliminated them, there should be less than a hundred Titans left in the city. In our assigned area there will be no more than twenty titans. With five hundred soldiers sent in not including the special teams, it's not a big danger."

Ian added, "The important thing is that there aren't many abnormal titans among those numbers."

Takashi nodded, "That reassures me, if there are only twenty titans in our area, with a squad of ten people they can deal with those titans."

They are very distracted, of course, if there are abnormal titans, things can get complicated in a different way. Minimizing casualties is a priority in this operation, after all many lives were lost yesterday.

However, Takashi knew that he had to be careful at all times. As long as Takashi has gas and blades, he can solve at least thirty titans alone.

In the original story, it is not an exaggeration for Ian to mention that Mikasa is a soldier worth at least a hundred normal men, actually now Takashi may have much more than that among his capabilities.

As for Captain Levi, Takashi's uncle, he doesn't have a comparison that does justice to his combat skills.

Rico pointed out, "Ian, you shouldn't be tense, have you forgotten the monster we have on our side? As long as he has enough gas and blades, I can even come to believe that he alone can clear all the titans."

Ian was speechless, Takashi smiled slightly and said, "I'm sure you're surprised you couldn't pick up my corpse."

He can remember the words Rico said yesterday when she walked away from the titans, leaving him alone against six of those monsters.

Rico shook her head at Takashi's words, Ian couldn't help but laugh a little and handed Takashi some tea.

Takashi looked at the kind of tea in his hand. He had never tasted anything like it since that time Thomas offered him some he brought back from Trost, he still hadn't had the chance to visit.

"It's really something interesting. I was your superior in yesterday's operation, but it was all temporary, I'm under you now Captain Ian." Takashi said respectfully.

"I appreciate it." Said Ian, he thought it would be a bit complicated to be Takashi's superior today.

Rico snorted coldly and said, "I don't understand why you insisted on joining Survey Corps. If you choose to be in the Garrison Corps, you wouldn't have to have good qualifications to excel, just with one year, according to your merits this time and considering that the commander appreciates you, in less than half a year you could be a supervisor, even higher positions are not out of the question."

Takashi was deprived of his eligibility to join the military police regiment because he threatened a senior officer to save Eren. However, if he performs well in the Garrison Corps, Commander Pixis might send him to the military police regiment. This is also a way that very few people know of to enter the military police.

Smiling casually, Takashi asked, "Maybe I like the adrenaline of battles. Rico, after what happened yesterday, do you think my skills are more useful in the rear or at the front?"

After hearing that, Rico pointed out, "That makes sense. When I was just a recruit, I was eligible to join the military police regiment. I hesitated for a long time, but in the end decided that my skills could serve at the front, as at the time I was afraid of dying, I ended up abandoning the idea of joining the Survey Corps."

"But even so, it didn't make a difference. My skills were not enough to keep the walls safe, Takashi, it won't make a difference whether you enter the Survey Corps or not."

The atmosphere was slightly silent, Takashi took a sip of tea and said, "I will make a change, I will make sure that lost hope is reborn, don't give up hope even if you are on the verge of collapse."

"Rico, times are changing, with Eren's power, it's not impossible that we can block the Maria wall gate like we did here."

Hearing Takashi's words, Rico chuckled and poured cold water without hesitation. "Do you really think so? Not to mention if Eren can make it out alive after the trial, do you really think a rock of the same size can be found to seal the opening in the Maria wall?"

Rico's expression was indifferent and he said, "Do you think we will win if we seal the openings again? What if the colossal titan appears again? Even the Rose wall can be destroyed. Tell me, do you still think we have hope? Even if you're in the Survey Corps it will only make one change, one death faster than the others."

The atmosphere was a bit gloomy, Takashi was silent, Rico's words after all were very realistic and cruel, but she was not wrong, any part of the walls can be destroyed."

In fact, she did not understand the goal of the colossal titan, if he wanted to, he could wipe out humanity completely. What is he looking for, what are his real goals? Most importantly, who is the colossal titan?

As for the true intentions of the attacks humanity has been receiving for the past five years, Takashi did not know. In fact, everyone was afraid, not only those who were protecting themselves, but also those who were attacking.

Seeing that the atmosphere was a bit depressed, Ian poured himself a cup of tea and said, "Takashi, don't overthink it, it's hard to be a good soldier in this world."

Takashi looked at Ian and became a little depressed, "Is that so? So what did you think in your recruiting days, why didn't you choose to join the Survey Corps?"

Ian scoffed with self-deprecation, "Don't hold me in high regard, actually my intentions were to join the military police regiment at first, but I didn't make the first ten and I was really scared, so I eventually joined the Garrison corps."

Ian Dietrich graduated from the training corps and joined the Garrison Corps when Keith Shadis, had taken over as commanding officer.

Because there were no such long exploits at that time, when Eren's father met Keith and Keith was considered special, his command style began to become very ruthless. At that time Survey Corps casualty rates were very high.

Rico smiled when she heard the words, "Ian, based on your performance this time, if you want, you can submit an application to the commander to join the military police in a few days."

Ian shook his head, "I had this idea five years ago, but now it's gone, there's no safe place on these walls."

"Oh, well, there are good things about joining the military police regiment. It is said to be rich in resources." Takashi pointed out that curiosity.

Ian spoke to Takashi. He had nothing to do in the morning anyway. He told Takashi about his friend.

Ian was only one post away from being able to join the military police. He was unfortunately outclassed, but many of his friends did manage to get in successfully.

One of them had a strong sense of justice. Every time he returned to the Trost district, he complained about the corruption of the military police. All the work was left for the newcomers. But after a few years, he stopped complaining about the military police.

Five years ago, when Maria's wall was destroyed, his friend moved his family to Rose City. The now rich soldier was very close to the Sina wall.

One night before leaving, Ian drank with his friend.

Ian sighed with emotion, "That night, he said it had been ten years since he joined the Gendarmerie Corps and now he was scum. The opposite of his ideals when he was young, he became what he hated most. I think compared to the scum, the garrison corps is just fine."

A very dark story, Takashi and Rico didn't know how to respond after hearing it.

Takashi's recent experiences have had a great impact on the way he sees the world, and a dangerous idea was building up in his mind.

Not only Takashi had that idea, but also Commander Erwin Smith had that same idea.

Takashi did not know that the training corps of the northern 104th cycle had already made a selection. After all, there was no titan attacking the walls.

A boy named Marlowe Freudenberg with a strong sense of justice had joined the military police.

He has a dream and is determined to rectify the corruption of the gendarmerie. To climb up, no matter if he wants to "do anything" or even be a scum, but once he takes power, he will make the corrupt gendarmerie pay the price for their sins.
