Chapter 30: The Chase through the Castle

I sat up and grinned spitefully at Dorian. “You pushed the “Me” button,” I said. “Bad move.” I turned and scrambled to the door, ducking under the two guards and wrenching them open before they could stop me.

“Stop him!” shouted McAllister, sword drawn, finger pointed. First rule of dealing with an angry feral dog. Never just leave extremities hanging out like, oh say, a finger.

McAllister screamed bloody murder as I clamped down my jaw on her index finger, snapping it off at the joint like a twig while I ran past. McAllister clutched her hand as the stump spewed blood like a faulty water pipe. The other guards between me and the castle fared even worse, as I was still allowing my rage to drive me. These men and women stood between me and my mate. So I made sure they would stand no more.
