"Are you sure?" My mom asks for the third time and I nod.
"Yes, mom. I need to finish packing tonight." I tell her.
I can see she's bummed that I can't join her and Max for a meal later tonight but I can't bring myself to tag along.
It's a little selfish but between hanging out with River and spending the rest of the night packing, I can't bring myself to make time for them.
"It's okay. We'll do something tomorrow before Max leaves." she says with a small pout and I give her a smile, "Why are you all leaving me like this?"
"Are you about to cry, Mommy?" I tease her as I try to lighten up the mood.
"You wish," she scoffs a laugh and I laugh too, "No men for the three months you're away or I'll track all of them and maime them."
"Mom!" I cry out in both embarrassment and guilt since River is still in my room.
