"This is unbecoming of a crowned prince," I announce as I step in front of him.
Startled, River scrambles to his feet and gives me a tired smile.
"Hey?" he greets weakly.
Ignoring the greeting, I sidestep him and reach for the door, wanting to avoid as much conversation as I can while standing in front of my door.
We probably don't know who is looking at this time of the day.
"May I help you?" I ask quietly once we aren't exposed to any prying eyes outside my door.
"I just wanted to crash here for a while," he says as he eyes the couch, "I don't want to be alone in my room."
I want to ask him the reason for it but I don't, instead opting for a nod as I gesture to the couch and walk away.
I have a lot of stuff to pack and I don't think a few hours are enough to do it so I get straight to work when I enter my bedroom, leaving the door cracked open to hear him if he decides to call for something.
