Although I know my comment about his therapist made him close up on me, I can't help but feel irked by the silence between us.

The restaurant we are at, Bailey's, is a high end off the charts establishment fit for royalty. It doesn't help that it has an exclusive list, meaning without River's name next to mine, I'd never have seen the inside of it.

My admiration of the place has been marred by the anxious silence between us.

Do I just pretend that we're okay and push through the awkwardness?

Sighing, I clear my throat quietly to call for his attention.

He immediately raises his head from the menu and gives me a soft smile before going back to the menu.

"What have you decided on?" He asks politely, almost as if he is not willing to venture into anything else.
