Amara sat down with King at a table as more and more guests arrived. After Lord Bael arrived came the Sitri, Lord Sitri, and his wife Serena who looked to have a similar body type to Venelana. Only a bit shorter, with black hair and bright blue eyes.
In her hands was a small baby girl with black hair like both of them which happened to be Sona. They brought along some servants as well as most high-class Devils did. Venelana and Zeoticus went to greet them while keeping a noble heir around them.
In private they were friends while now they were Clan Lords and Ladys so they had to keep a certain air. Amara felt it was pointless, but the royals and nobles were always stuck up. She spent this time looking at the people arriving.
Lord Sitri looked to be a man in his late 40s wearing a black robe with blue highlights. A long noble cape hung from his shoulders while Serena whore a revealing yet noble dress that showed her shoulders.
Lord Sitri shook Zeoticus' hand.
"Zeoticus, pleasure."
"Likewise. I see Sona has been growing well."
Serena smiled.
"Just like Rias, she was a surprised child. Now, how is Amara taking this."
She spoke the last bit a bit more quietly. The Sitri had long since known of Amara and they even helped hide her for a bit longer. Venelana smiled a bit.
"She is doing well. You can talk to her if you want. She is over there."
Both Sitri looked at the little girl sitting at the main table next to King. Her weird familiar which everyone found creepy. However, they decided to not do that. Lord Sitri rather walked toward Lord Bael to speak to him.
"Better not."
Both men began to speak, but not friendly. Lord Sitri and Serena were part of the Satan Faction and not the Great King faction. Either way, they had to keep a certain air so both went to speak to the Satans. That was a whole can of beans that Amara had no interest in.
'The adults can scheme all they want. I am not interested.'
Once a few arrived more and more began to arrive. Lord Phenex and Lady Phenex arrived along with thier children. The Oldest Ruval Phenex looked like a young blond man but was closer to two centuries old. The second son whose name she did not know but was not much younger than Ruval.
The Third Son who was around 8 named Riser Phenex. Three children were not that common for Noble Devils which meant they were either very active or just lucky. Strangely the kid Riser was staring at her. His green eyes seemed to have this weird shine in them which made her a bit angry.
'What is this little goblin planning?'
She may be shy at talking, but one did not need to speak to kill someone. Her mana began to writhe, but she retrained it. One should not show their full hand so soon. Amara spread her senses to listen in to the conversations.
Lord Phenex, Lord Sitri, Zeoticus, and Lord Bael were all speaking so she listen in. This could be about her. Lord Phenex dressed in a red outfit that screened nobility.
"Zeoticus, what do you think if our families become closer?"
Hearing this made Zeoticus and the other lords listen in. They knew what he mean by that. Zeoticus was the clan head of the Gremory and Amara was a Gremory. She was the daughter of Sirzechs so his decision was final, but Zeoticus could get things started.
"I see. This would be beneficial to both our families would it not?"
The Clan Lord came out now so Zeoticus pushed down his grandfather's side. Lord Phenex nodded.
"If my youngest son Riser and either Rias or Amara marry him, you will have access to more of our Phonix tears. And we would have access to your land, along with us being allies."
Lord Bael spoke up.
"Not a bad idea, but I have a counter. Marry her to my son Magdaran. She is more Bael than Gremory and the Bael clan stands higher. Magdaran is younger by 2 years, but he also has Energy of Destruction. This would unite us closer than we are. Think about it."
Hearing this made Amara squint her eyes.
'Here comes the arranged marriages.'
Zeoticus pondered on things.
"Either way it would be a blessing to our clans. However, why Magdaran. Don't you have another son named Sairaorg?"
Lord Bael squinted his eyes.
"That failure is not good enough. He does not have clan ability and is a disgrace. I will not have him taint our lines."
That made the other Clan Lords judge him a bit, but it was not unreasonable. Lord Sitri had no male heirs so he was just looking out for Amara. This talk went on and on before Zeoticus expertly found a way to delay saying anything.
He said he wanted to see Sairaorg first as he could be a gem in the rough. Lord Bael was not pleased, but Lord Phenex got a decent answer. It was a possibility that gave Amara more time to get out of politics.
This went on and on as more guests arrive. Lord Agares, his wife, and several other noble Devils of that clan. Lord Agreres only had female heirs so he could not ask for a marriage. They also brought an infant girl not much older than Rias or Sona.
After the Vasago, Gamagin, Amon, Barbatos, and the rest of the 32 surviving clans arrived. Some brought only the Lord, and Lady and their children while others brought more. Very soon the Ballroom was packed with Lords, Ladies, young heirs, and even some who brought tier infants.
Mostly to show off their new heir to arrange some marriages. This kind of sickened Amara, but it was normal when it came to royalty. She had seen enough in her past life so she kept to herself. However halfway through the whole thing, her mother dragged her and King to the front.
People had to see the birthday girl and daughter of Sirzechs. Some young heirs who were either her age or even older came to speak to her. Some were pretty innocent while the older ones were a bit creepier. They were sent by their parents so she just smiled and told them no.
As she talked to these people her back was covered in a cold sweat as talking like this was new. She was not used to it and wished she could bring her helmet to not have to look people in the eye.
Just then she felt a telepathic message. It came from Serafall.
'Amara, you are doing great. You are hiding your nerves well, just keep it up.'
'Yes. I got it.'
She spoke a bit more with Serafall before the connection was cut. Just then she noticed Lord Bael walking up to her. He looked dead serious and when he stood in front of her he waved to her.
"Follow me."
She looked at her dad who nodded. He had already placed a massive amount of protection on her and her dress. The whole thing could demolish a city with how much protection he gave her. Besides Lord Bael would not hurt her in front of so many people.
She and King followed behind him as they stepped outside the Ballroom. Once they were outside Lord Bael looked down into her eyes.
"Amara was your name right?"
She nodded.
"Yes, Lord Bael."
She bowed a bit, but he did not care.
"Now, for the reason, I called you here. You already know the duty of Noble Devil Ladies right?"
Amara squinted her eyes.
"Yes."
"Good. Pick Magdaran. You were hidden for a reason. We Devils are not united and at any moment, a tragedy could occur. Just by marrying Magdaran, that can be staved off. For a while. What will you do?"
"Sorry, but no."
She clenched her fists as speaking was not her strong suit. Hearing that made Lord Bael squint his eyes.
"You would deny your responsibility?"
"Yes."
Lord Bael scoffed as he walked back to the Ballroom.
"Have it your way? In time you will change your mind."
"Well will see about that."
Lord Bael ignored her now and did not question much about how she could talk so fluidly. Some Devils were just born different and she was born to two thorns in his side for a reason. They were powerful and their kid should not be much different.
Once he was gone Amara sighed heavily. She was not afraid of Lord Bael, just the talking part was scary. Her face was scrunched up as she still did not like talking. She wiped her forehead a bit as she sighed.
'That could have gone better.'
King nodded. He already disliked Lord Bael and now he wanted to flay his mind more.
'Maybe.'
Amara decided to take a small walk before going back to give her speech. She had it thought out and was just giving the rest of the guests some time to mingle. Not that she was avoiding it or something. She was not going to go far and her walk would be done in around 10 minutes.
In the Ballroom, an elderly-looking Devil swished around a cup of fine wine. He brought it up to his mouth to take a sip. He communicated with the hidden assassins he brought who had not entered the Ballroom.
'The girl has left and Lord Bael has returned. Do your job.'
That was all he said before cutting the connection. He would not allow the Satan faction to grow stronger so he would take out the girl if they could not pull her to thier side. Better to take out a variable that would cause another headache like the cursed 4 Satans.
As for Amara, she was taking a short walk just to rehearse her speech. As she and King thin shadows followed behind her. She obviously knew they were there and was quite disappointed. From her knowledge, they sent weak assassins that were just good at hiding.
Disposable in other worse. The shadows slinked closer to Amara and pulled out some silver daggers. The handles were warded to protect them and they were enchanted with a weak light spell. Even Sirzechs would be close to death if this entered his heart.
They slinked close as the 5 assassins drew close.
"I know you are there."
Amara turned around and her face turned scary. Her right eye turned into a swirling Abyss while her left turned into a raging inferno. the flames seemed to be tainted with a black which made them pause.
They tried to run, but Amara raised her hand. She could not use her Desolation Magic yet as her body would not handle the strain. She used the next best thing. A ball of blood-red flame appeared in her hand before being tainted black.
She held her hand out and a flash of flames filled the whole corridor turning the 5 assassins into dust. How could that not draw the attention of every guest? The Old Devil's face turned ugly as he had brought some skilled, but weak assassins.
That should have been enough as Amara was not even 6 when Devils trained. She should have been a helpless little girl so how did she use that much power? Just then Sirzechs, Serafall, Ajuka, and Serafall teleported to where Amara was.
They moved so fast that no one had time to react. When they arrived they saw black flames burning on the walls harmlessly as the estate was warded beyond measure. The current Amara could not damage it which was good.
Sirzechs rushed to her and took her into his arms.
"AMARA! Are you alright?"
Amara waved her right hand a bit to turn off the flames.
"I am fine."
Serafall, Ajuka, and Falbium looked at the burning flames and were intrigued. This was not the bloodline ability of the Sitri, Bael, Lucifuge, or Gremory. Ajuka looked at her with shining eyes.
"How did you do that?"
Amara shrugged.
"Fire cool."
They wanted to facepalm but didn't. Falbium looked at Sirzechs with an interesting expression.
"Might just be something she was born with. Happens from time to time."
Sirzechs nodded.
"Amara, sweetie, can you do that again?"
Amara nodded and held her arm out. The blood-red dragon flames appeared and then was tainted black.
"Fire goes big boom."
Amara clapped and turned it off. Seeing that made the 4 Satans smile. Serafall came close, too close.
"Cool. Tell big sis how you did that?"
"Grandma."
That made more tick marks appear on Serafall's face.
"LOVE ME!"
She tried to kiss Amara's cheek, but go pushed away. Either way, Sirzechs was not happy. He had felt them the moment they moved and was going to let the protection he placed on her do its job. However, his daughter was stronger than expected and vaporized them.
They wanted to talk more, but now they had to deal with the perpetrator. They returned to the Ballroom and everyone suddenly felt a terrible pressure fill the whole room. Sirzechs' aura was going crazy as he locked onto the elder devil.
A member of the Great King Faction sure, but not a council member so it was fine.
"For the crime of targeting my child, and in the home of my family the Gremory Clan, I the current Devil King Sirzechs Lucifer, sentence you to death."
Before the Devil could put up a fight a dense orb of Energy of Destruction covered him and turned him to dust. Lord Bael and the other members of the Great King Faction squinted their eyes but hid them. That fool was not an important piece, but Lord Bael spoke up.
"Calm yourself. This traitor sought death and should have been tortured for his crime. However, he was a Noble. How will you deal with this Lord Lucifer?"
Sirzechs played it off.
"I will compensate the family of course. A traitor, but his family does not need to be punished. I am merciful of course. Do my fellow Satans agree with my decision?"
Ajuka nodded.
"I Ajuka Beelzebub agree with this."
"I Serafall Leviathan agree with the sentence."
"I Falbium Asmodeus agree with the decision."
Seeing all 4 Satan gang up against him made Lord Bael snort.
"Fine."
Sirzechs smiled at the rest of the guests.
"I wish it did not come to this, but it seemed traitors are everywhere."
The Satan Faction members laughed a little while the Great King faction snorted. Not happy with being looked down upon. But they could only suck it up as Sirzech was within his right. His own child was targeted so nothing they could say would change that.
Sirzechs put down Amara where everyone could see her. It was time for her speech.
"Now, it is time for my daughter to speak."
Everyone locked on her which made her nervous. She was not used to this at all, but she already was ready. She used a small magic circle to amplify her voice. This caused some murmurs as she already could use a simple spell. Plus her attack magic was strong for her age.
Amara took a breath and started.
"Greetings. I, am Amara Luciguge Gremory. Daughter of Sirzechs Lucifer and Grayfia Lucifuge. Heiress of the Gremory clan. And I welcome you to our home. Thank you for coming to my birthday."
She bowed and smiled causing some of the Ladies to feel thier hearts melt. She was adorable and her smile was so pure. If only they knew what was behind that smile. The Lords of the clans all felt she would make a great wife for thier sons and heirs when she grew.
So many plots were brewing, but Amara did not care. She did her part and now she stepped down. Everyone clapped to be respectful while her family all was left dumbfounded. She just spoke 4 complete sentences. That was more than she had ever done in one moment. And very well spoke.
They were proud of her but wondered how smart she really was. The felt she had done well, but just then Grayfia noticed her face which was purple. Her cheeks looked like a chipmunk which made her worry she would puke, but no.
She was so nervous she forgot to breathe. When she finally exhaled she relaxed. Things went better than she thought. King barked once and encouraged her.
'Thanks.'
The rest of the day and the next day were spent celebrating. A big feast, gifts for her birthday, and countless offers for marriages to her grandparents and parents. Even large dance for the Lords and Ladies while Amara just sat by the side.
By the end of the celebration, she was socially drained. Most of the guests who were not direct friends had left leaving only the Satans and their original clans. plus close family friends. The Sitri, Astaroth Clan, the Glasya-Lavolas clans, and a few others.
Amara however left with King as she did not want to deal with all that. She returned to her room and sat in a chair. She closed her eyes before opening them.
"I miss fighting the Abyss. That was so much easier."
King sat in front of her with squinted eyes. She looked down at him and had to agree with what he said.
"Yes, mortals waste time in useless events like that. They have thier use, but for beings like us, they are a drag. Soon, very soon we will be able to go out. Just not yet. The curse of being a Noble, but then I would not have this quality body."
Amara sighed and sat on the floor.
"Come on."
King sat in front of her and they both began a set of Magic Refinement. This was calming and the best they could do at the moment without access to the stimulation of battle. Until Amara was free of these limitations this was enough.
