'Then we'll make it rain.'
The whole room went silent for a while and then they all burst out laughing. Everyone, except the queen.
Cyran frowned and shouted 'What??'
'Do you think of yourself as the god of rain or something?' one of them laughed mockingly.
'ThEn LEt's MaKE it RAIn' one of them mocked.
The queen frowned and held out her hand, gesturing for them to stop. Everyone immediately stopped laughing, even the deaf guy in the back.
'I don't believe in things I can't see. Prove it to me. You have 24 hours.' her voice echoed down the hall. After a moment of silence she rushed outside the chamber.
Cyran rolled his eyes and smirked, 'Oh that's easy I told you I can...wait, did she say 24 HOURS-'
Kara quietly snuck into the room before her mother or the guards could see her.
She wanted to see if the boy was the genius he claimed to be.
Cyran just stood there for a couple of seconds before he sighed deeply.
'Wow, ok. These people are backward.' he accidentally said it out loud.
The dungeon guard came to him. He looked as calm as ever. Looking at that red-head reminded of the time where people wrote 'Red-heads are demons from hell.' in the bathroom stalls in the motherships. Red-heads were extinct, like the name 'Karen', so he laughed about thinking that.
But this guy doesn't look possessed. He looked like the reincarnation of the devil himself.
'I wanted to return this.' he replied.
He held out the shiny, ticking metal watch. It was made of pure platinum, something only the richest people could afford.
He held out the platinum watch they gave back to him.
He paused for a few minutes before looking at him.
'Thanks.' He finally replied.
The redhead smiled and bowed elegantly. 'Sorry for the trouble. Hope you have a good stay here,' and followed the queen quickly. Cyran frowned. Yeah, right. You just wanted to say that to get on the queen's good side, he thought.
He remembered when the commander gave his father the watch. It was a real honor since commanders don't usually hand out expensive goods like that.
'At least they didn't steal this.' he sighed and stared at the time.
It had completely stopped.
Maybe it went through a space warp where the rules of space and time don't count there.
The watch was the only thing he had in memory of his parents.
He had remembered his dad fiddling with it when he was bored, making cool, new improvements to it. It was a family heirloom and also his companion.
'Groth, identify planet and period.' he whispered.
It may not work anymore, but he still wanted to try.
Suddenly, blue light exploded and flooded the room, which made Cyran panic and drop the watch. But the light didn't dim at all. Instead, a robotic voice answered his question. There were several pings and tones heard during the search.
'Planet and period identified. You are currently on 1540 Earth. Species count: approximating 13.67 million species. Collecting data: none found.' it chimed.
'1540?1540?!' he gasped.
Kara, who was watching all this stood there too stunned to react. What in bloody hell was that?
She wanted to run as fast as she can and tell her mother, but she decided to wait for more.
'Process more information about this period.' he commanded.
The watch followed with shiny, blue light.
'Collecting data from backup server.....processing...1245676 details found about the year 1500 till 1600.' it answered with a huge number of articles, magazines, news, and websites.
'What in the world!' Kara gasped a little louder than she intended.
Cyran looked around shocked.
'Who's there now?' he groaned.
She finally decided to face him and came out of the hiding place. The boy was just as handsome as they had described.
Porcelain skin, bright blue eyes that shine like a diamond, Shorter than her, and hair that is the color of lavender, or maybe a little lighter.
'It's me! princess Kara Maguire, and heir to the throne. I demand your respect and admiration and bow down to me before you speak. I may be little, but don't you dare go and underestimate me you underling!' she blabbed.
To be honest, she was falling apart already. She prayed sliently he wouldn't turn her into stone.
'Ok, and what do you want?' he replied ignoring her monologue.
Her face went red as he ignored her and she spoke in a high-pitched voice: 'Who are you?'
He raised an eyebrow and stared at her for some time before replying.
'So you saw everything?' he asked with a tint of darkness in his tone.
She didn't know how to reply to this question, if she said she did, will he do something horrible to her, like cut off her fingers one by one?
She shuddered at the thought.
'Yo, I am asking you!' He called her.
Still no reply.
He tapped her on her hair, don't know why he did that, maybe he just thought it was fluffy and brown like a roasted marshmallow. It reminded him of his school days in the ship.
She slapped his hand away from her head, pushed him to the ground, and put her sword at the tip of his face, all in a fraction of a second.
'Not another word!' she barked.
He was stunned and raised both his hands.
'Hey, I was just asking!' he shrieked.
she pulled and adjusted her hair, taking every element of his touch out of it.
'Sorry...' he shaked.
Not only is the queen scary, but so is her daughter.
She said nothing and snatched the watch he was holding.
'Hey!' he protested but she tightened her grip on the sword, making him retreat again.
'What kind of magic is this?' she fiddled with it.
It strangely reminded him of the way his father used to do, tinkering with it like it was made of magic and that he wanted to solve the mystery of the watch.
'I-it's a watch. His name is Groth.' he replied meekly.
she glared at him and observed it.
'How did you get this?'
'My father gave it to me.'
'How did he get it?'
'From the commander...'
'From who now?'
'From...look I'll explain it to you, but I'm kinda out of time now, since your scary mother wants me to make it rain within 24 hours.'
She didn't question him further, just scowled at him.
'Alright, but I'm staying with you till you finish your experiment.' she replied.
He didn't want her to stay, but it looked like he had no other choice.
'B-but Red-head's supposed to be guarding me.' he replied as he pointed towards the door where a faint silhouette could be seen.
Kara walked out and spoke something with him. He bowed and left the hall, leaving him completely alone, with his scary demon princess.
'Now I'm supposed to stay and watch you.' she smirked.
'Fine...' he sighed and took out a paper.
