Chapter 2: On the tree

The wolf went to sit at the back of the cave, his face tells it all that he's sad and not happy. He looked around, saying in his mind that, guess they were right. Everyone should live equally with that, those evil vampires won't hurt anyone because they might think of being the leader with their selfish interests.

[Children talking to themselves]; “Hey, tell us more about what human blood tastes like?”

“Instead of telling you guys, why don't you follow me when I'm coming to the city? You know what? That place is beautiful with different things we haven't seen before and humans, they're like us, but their blood smells differently.”

“Woo oh, that sounds great you know” all the children shouted.

While the wolf overheard all their conversations and started breathing out from his mouth with his eyes wide open. He was scared and said to himself that if those children proceeded with their plans it would cause a big disaster, then he stood up quickly.

And headed towards where the children were playing, Leg hitting the ground, faded off. The noise sounds so close.

“Hey, you idiots! What are you guys talking about? Uhm? Tell me! I overheard all your conversations.” The werewolf said to those children angrily.

“Since you overheard all our conversations, why should we repeat ourselves?” The vampire boy, narrating how the city was, replied to the werewolf without being scared of him.

“Hey! Don't talk to him like that, he might tell on us,” One of the children said.

“No, he won't! And if he did, nobody would believe him because of what he did today. We are just playing here. Not more!” The vampire boy said, and the other children started laughing out loud. Hahaha!

The werewolf got pissed but couldn't do anything, and he ran out of that place, heading back to the top of the tree. Immediately he climbs the tree, he howls into the air and other werewolves hear his voice or cry, but some seem unbothered because of the suggestion he made earlier.

While Blang was in the forest, when she heard the voice, she ran and traced the voice to find out where the werewolf was. Blang got under the tree, and she saw the werewolf sitting on the tree and there was no danger around him.

Blang turned into a human, cut leaves and used them to cover her nakedness. The werewolf was lost in thought and didn't notice that Blang was off the tree.

“Seriously? I thought you were an adult now, but guess I'm wrong because you have not changed! Imagine you make that dangerous sound and here you are, resting on the tree without any danger around you!”

The werewolf did not hear all that Blang says, and she thinks he was only trying to snub her. Blang got pissed as she picked up a small stone on the ground and threw it at his body.

“Haaa!” The werewolf shouted and jumped down from the tree. “Ooh it is you! Why did you do that?”

“You want to know? Um?!” Blang gazed at him.

“If I don't want to know, will I ask you? Besides, what are you doing here? Don't tell me you like me because I don't like girls who are as proud as you!” The werewolf raised one side of his mouth towards Blang.

“I shouldn't have come here when you made that terrible sound!” Blang replied to him.

“What! You're here because of that?”

“Yes! Because you sounded like someone in trouble, I shouldn't have come here! What a waste!" Blang said and turned back, she took her step.

“Hey wait! I'm sorry, please, I'm so sorry, I was just sad because of a disaster that might invade our cave soon.” The werewolf faced down with sadness clouded over his face.

While Blang turned back and asked him what he meant by that? The werewolf asked her to climb on the tree so that they could talk. Both of them climbed on the tree and Blang asked the werewolf again, what is it that he wanted to talk about?

The wolf looks sad and says to Blang that some vampires have visited the city, and they would like to revisit it. Even this time around, they're going in a bunch and that is not even the issue. The problem here is that they're sucking human blood now and guess they find it sweeter than the animals' blood.

“What! When did all this happen? And who knows about it?” Blang was surprised.

“It's a small vampire and I caught him, but he begged me not to tell, which I did not, but right now, he intends to take his friends along.” The Werewolf said to Blang with a low tone of speech.

“Then tell his parents about it!” Blang replied to the Werewolf as she looked straight into his eyes.

“I can't,”

“Why can't you?” Blang asked.

Exhale sharply] “I made a stupid decision when you're not around, and because of that, I am sure nobody will ever listen to me again.”

“Which decision?” Blang looks confused.

“I hope you don't also judge or get angry at me like them. After I caught the small vampire boy coming from the city with all his cloth stained with human blood,

I got scared and asked everyone this morning that we should try to create a leader among us that can control everyone, but they took it personally and warned me to never make such a decision again. I'm sure nobody will want to talk to me again.”

“I understand you,” Blang said slowly.

While The werewolf looked Blang in the eye and asked if she was not mad at him like others?

“I'm not okay, I understand you're just trying to protect us.”

“But why can't others see it this way also?” The Werewolf asked Blang.

“Because their heart is cold.” Blang space in the air.

“What's that? Are you attempting to tell me something, Blang?”

“No, you know what? Let's go back to the cave.” Blang intended to jump down the tree, but The werewolf stopped her by holding her arm and said wait.

“Tell me, are they something you know? Look, we have to do something to stop those young vampires. Once the sun is set I'm sure they will all go to the city, and you know what that means to us living in the cave. There's nowhere we can hide again than this place.”

Blang sits back on the tree, and she tells the werewolf that she has been visiting the city, though nobody knows about it.

The werewolf was surprised, and he asked Blang what for? And what if humans see her?

“They can't because I have the spot I normally hide, though I have a friend there, he is such a nice guy.”

“What! Blang. He might tell on you. Remember, we can't trust humans.” The werewolf got scared by Blang's confession.

“Don't worry, he can't, they're just like us when we turn into humans. I have been seeing him ever since I was little.”

“And how did you meet him?” The werewolf asked Blang.

“One day before my parents passed away, we went to play in the forest and I got lost while wandering around. I don't know I'm already at the entrance of a beautiful city. The small boy was picking food from the trash and I tapped him. Maybe he knows where my parents are, but instead, he screamed and called me an alien because of the leaves I used to cover my nakedness.” [Scoffs]

The werewolf laughed and Blang asked him what was funny? He said nothing and asked her to continue with her story.

“I ran back, and he followed me, then I stopped and begged him not to tell anyone, to which he felt pity for me and asked about my parents. I told him I was looking for them also, then he asked me to describe where I came from. At first, I was scared that he might tell his kin, but he confused me by saying he would help me find my parents.”

“So did he help you find them?” The werewolf asked.

“Yes, he did, after telling him. He took me to the forest and we both waited until my parents found us, and they took me, turned me into a werewolf and left. I felt sorry because we did not tell him to thank him.”

“Oops, that's bad.”

“Yes I told my parents when we got into the cave about what I told the boy, my dad was furious and couldn't sleep because we thought he'd get his kin to attack us and my dad couldn't sleep.”

“Even me, I wouldn't sleep because of what the humans did to our ancestors.” The werewolf asked Blang.

“My Dad left that night to check the forest. Maybe the boy and his kin are coming, but instead, my dad finds vampires from our cave sneaking into the city to attack people.”

“What?!” The werewolf was shocked.

“You know what? It's not only the young vampires that visit the city, the adults also do that.

But my dad can't do anything about it. He told me and my mom not to tell anyone about it, which we didn't. After some days, I went back to the forest and I saw the boy sitting in the same spot. I was scared, but he was happy to see me,” Tongue clicks.

“But why did he come back?”

“He said he had no family.”

“And you believe him?”

“Yes, I do, and we agreed on seeing them every day. One day, he took me to the city because some family took him in, so he couldn't come to the forest like before. We create our meeting spots, and he often tells me things that are going on in the city.”

“Like what?” The Werewolf asked Blang.

“He said many people are missing and nobody knows where they've gone. I told my dad when I got home, and he asked if maybe we should have a leader among us. Everyone turned against him and his family because of that, just like you right now.”

“That's sad. Blang, guess I know the reason you understand me right now; I'm certain that is also the reason others don't talk to you in the cave.”

“Did you notice that?” Blang asked the werewolf.

“Sure, I do, but what can we do to stop them?” The werewolf asked Blang.

“I guess it's only one thing, according to my Dad.”

“And what is that?” The Werewolf was curious.

“A throne for vampires and werewolves.”

“What?!” The werewolf got confused, because he had never heard of such.
