Sound Asleep

After a long journey, the car finally stopped in front of the house. Luliyah was still leaning on Kelvin's shoulder, fast asleep, unaware that they had arrived at their destination. Agi quickly opened the car while Binta and the other servants hurriedly lined up in front of the car to welcome their master.

Before they could open their mouths to greet Kelvin and Luliyah, they saw Kelvin put his finger to his lips, gesturing everyone to remain silent. Kelvin asked them to be quiet. The servants exchanged astonished glances. Mrs Binta tried to peek into the car, which made Harris who was standing beside her, nudge her gently.

Kelvin got out of the car carrying Luliyah, while making sure she was still sleeping. Luliyah muttered some words, waking up a little by the time she lost her support. In the end, she fell asleep as her face was buried in Kelvin's arms.

Kelvin walked to the main room, followed by Mrs Binta who opened the door for him. She lifted the blanket on the big bed and straightened the pillows so that Luliyah could sleep comfortably. After that, she left the room right away.

Kelvin gently placed Luliyah's body on the bed. As her head touched the soft pillow, he could hear Luliyah sighing in satisfaction. This made Kelvin smile.

When he was about to leave Luliyah and go to his study, Luliyah's hands suddenly hugged his waist tightly as if she was not willing to let go. Kelvin was a little surprised when he saw the two tiny hands wrapped around his waist so tightly.

If only the woman was conscious and did this, Kelvin's heart would have soared into the seventh heaven. Unfortunately, the woman was sleeping and probably dreaming.

However, this little gesture alone made Kelvin happy. At least, Luliyah unconsciously felt dependent on him.

Kelvin turned to sit at the side of the bed. His hand gently stroke Luliyah's head. His hands continued to caress Luliyah's hair that had fallen on pillow.

As he was about to leave the room, he leaned forward and gave Luliyah a soft kiss on her forehead. After seeing that the woman was sleeping peacefully, he left to continue his work.

........

After leaving the main room, Mrs Binta realized that Luliyah was wearing a different dress from the one she wore when she left in the morning.

'I think that is not the dress I chose for Luliyah....'

While she was thinking, the main bedroom's door suddenly opened and Kelvin came out. Seeing Mrs Binta, Kelvin immediately asked for her help. "Mrs Binta, please can you get a burn ointment for Luliyah's face, I will really appreciate if you can do that"

'Uh, burn ointment?'

Before Mrs Binta could ask him further, Kelvin had already walked to his office leaving her alone and confused. With curiosity haunting her mind, she rushed to find medicine for Luliyah.

At that moment, she saw her son walking in the corridor. It seems like her son was about to go the study to assist with Kelvin's work. However, Mrs Binta couldn't hold her curiosity so she asked her son before he could climb the stairs.

"Harris, come her for a moment!" Mrs Binta immediately pulled Harris from the corridor.

"What's the matter, Mom? Mr Kelvin is waiting for me." Harris said. He said that while turning his head towards Kelvin's study. He had to rush to the study and help with his boss's work. What's the point of relaxing while his boss was working.

"What happened to Luliyah? Why did he ask for burn ointment for her? Is she hurt? Mrs Binta asked, a little worried.

Harris scratched his head, "I can't explain it in details. The story is too long. Earlier, Madame had an argument with Natali and her father. Natali poured coffee on her. But it shouldn't hurt that badly because the coffee was already cold.." Harris said, trying to briefly explain the day's event to his mother.

Harris's explanation made Mrs Binta very surprised. Apart from being shocked, anger slowly grew in her heart.

"Natali Parker. That woman is insolent. From the start, she disliked master and didn't want to be with him just because he's blind. Now, she took advantage of an innocent woman and made her a scapegoat so she can cancel the engagement. Then what about the father? He must have been very surprised to see his two daughters fighting...." Mrs Binta said.

Harris rolled his eyes as he remembered Mr Martins's attitude. The man was silent when he saw his daughter being bullied. However, when he saw Kelvin arrival, Mr Martins seemed to be very happy.

"Her father didn't even defend her. Her father was just trying to curry favor with Mr Kelvin." Harris replied again.

"What kind of father would allow his two daughters to fight like that and let one of them be publicly humiliated?" Mrs Binta couldn't believe what she heard.

Harris could only sigh when he heard his mother grumbling, "I have no idea. Their relationship is very complicated. They are not like family in general."

"Then what happened?" Mrs Binta asked again.

"Mr Kelvin has already retaliated to Natali, but he hasn't done anything to Mr Martins because that man is Madame's real father. And it looks like Madame loves her father very much, even though her father treats her unfairly." Harris replied quickly.

After that, he looked at the watch and said, "Mother, I really have to go; Mr Aiden is waiting for me." When he said that, he immediately rushed to Kelvin's study.

Mrs Binta continued to look for the medicine for burns all over the house.

....

Luliyah woke up feeling uncomfortable. She sat up on the bed, trying to stretch her entire body that felt stiff. After that, she looked out of the window and realized that the sun had gone down and the sky was already dark.

'How long have I been sleeping?'

She turned when she heard a knock on the door, "Yes?"

"Madame, you are awake. It's time for dinner. Mr Kelvin is waiting for you at the dinning table." The maid spoke with concern.

Hearing the servant's words, Luliyah glanced at the clock above the lamp-stand, next to her bed.

The clock showed that it was half past eight.

'Kelvin is late for dinner because he was waiting for me.' Luliyah thought to herself.

"I'll come down soon." She answered.

She hurriedly changed her wrinkled household clothes. She did not forget to comb her messy hair and then packed it.

When she was getting downstairs, her brain was spinning rapidly. She would meet Kelvin again at the dinning table.

'Is Kelvin still mad at me? Should I apologize?

'How can I make Kelvin not to get angry with me anymore? Luliyah asked herself questions within.
