3. Organizer's Lunch

"Alright then. Everything looks good." I put my hands on my hips and gave myself a firm nod after inspecting the dining room.

"Thea!" Jane came running up to me.

"Yeah?" I turned around to face her.

"Mr. Brown is asking if everything's ready for lunch."

"Yeah all's done. You checked with the caterers, yes?" I asked her and she nodded.

"Yeah all done all done. You're supposed to bring the guests here because Olivia's trying to take all the credit for the fair." She said going away and I scowled.

Ugh.

I straightened my shirt and ran my fingers through my hair and after taking a deep breath, I made my way to the office where the guests were waiting.

With a firm knock, I heard Mr. Brown's 'come in' and I turned the door knob and walked inside, only to have all eyes on me.

"Ah, we were just talking about you!" Mr. Brown said and I smiled widely. The same megawatt smile that has people on their knees from me. Literally.

And I did sense the atmosphere of the room shift as everyone's smile grew wider and more relaxed. Well, all except him. He just adjusted himself deeper into his seat and stared at me. But I didn't even spare him a glance, and tried my best not to look his way.

"All good things I hope." I said as I made my way inside and Mr. Brown nodded.

"Of course. Is everything ready?" He asked me and I nodded.

"Yes. I came to get everyone." I said and he got up from his seat and so did everyone else.

"Right, I completely forgot. Mr. Angelo, this is the organizer of the fair." Mr. Brown said and nudged me a bit to introduce myself. I looked at Roman Angelo who now stood up to his full height and towered well above me.

He was even more good looking from up close as he looked into my eyes and slowly made his way towards me with his hands in his pockets.

Holy hell he's smokin'.

I shook my head and stretched my hand out.

"It's a pleasure to meet you Mr. Angelo. I'm Heather." I said and he looked at me for a few moments before bringing his hand out and taking my small one into his.

A spark of electricity went through my body at the contact as I stared at our joined hands and looked up at him and saw him looking down too, until his gaze flicked to mine.

We stood like that in silence for a while, just staring into each other's eyes. And boy were his eyes beautiful. Emerald green, with a hint of grey in them and shimmered so brightly.

Pretty.

Realizing how long it had been, I quickly pulled my hand away and turned around, turning to the other guests that looked at us with curiosity and even Gabriel, the serious guy, had a grin plastered on his face.

Enzo looked quite amused and Maria seemed excited while Mr. Brown just looked at me curiously.

"Right um, this way please." I gestured and they all followed me out towards the dining room.

"Before I forget, is Alexander coming?" Mr. Brown asked me while we were on our way and I nod.

"Yes, he said he would come at 1 pm and it's almost time so he should be here any moment now." I told him and he nodded before excusing himself for a phone call, while we entered the dining room.

"Wow, this is so lovely." Maria said looking around and then smiled up at me.

"Thank you. We've assigned seats so please do sit." I ushered them to their seats and when I had sat Roman Angelo on his, I looked at the seating tag across him and saw it was Olivia's name written there.

"What the actual fuck?" I whispered but when I heard the clearing of a throat I realized Roman Angelo was sitting right next to me.

Oh great.

"Uh.. I'm sorry there's just been a mix up in the seats. Sorry again." I said quickly and looked around to see Olivia approaching with her minions. She walked towards us and gave me a sly smile.

"Heather. You're standing in my place." She said fake smiling and all and I scoffed.

"Your place my ass. Pick up your name tag and run back in those stubby toes of yours to whichever hole you crawled out from. And please, wear some clothes will you? You're literally blinding us." I said and heard snickering to a side and saw Enzo trying to stifle a laugh.

She looked at Enzo and then at Roman Angelo and then glared at me.

"This is my seat." She said getting up and I scowled.

"No, Mr. Brown is supposed to sit here. The organizers are supposed to go there. All the way there." I sat pointing to the far end of the table and she scoffed.

"Nuh-uh." She said and I rolled my eyes and snatched the name tag on the seat and walked over to the organizer's area and put it in its original place.

I'm so done with her.

"There. Now sit your ass down before I kick you out." I hissed at her and she rolled her eyes before strutting off towards her seat and sat down huffing.

I sat in my seat and Mr. Brown came and sat in front of Roman Angelo and started talking to them. I could feel someone's gaze on my face but I ignored it, afraid of who it might be and instead turned to Matt and Jane who sat in front of me.

"Everything okay?" Jane asked me and I shrugged.

"Peachy. Olivia threw a tantrum but that's not new." I said and looked around for a certain someone until my eyes landed on Roman Angelo, who was already looking at me. I looked at him but then a huge smile broke out on my face when I heard someone's familiar voice.

I grinned and turned my head and saw him walking through the doors and immediately shot out of my seat, running to the man and jumping into his arms.

His arms wrapped around me as he spun me around and I laughed as he put me down, but I just hugged him tighter, the familiar comforting scent enveloping me.

"You're killing me Thea." He said chuckling and I swatted his arm playfully.

"I missed you too idiot." I said and he broke out into a grin and suddenly hugged me, my feet lifting off the ground in the process.

"I know. Me too." He said as he put me down and kissed my forehead. "Everything good?" He asked me and I nodded and took his hand.

"Better now. Come on I'll take you to your seat." I said and dragged him towards Mr. Brown who was already looking at us with a smile.

"Alexander, so good to finally see you!" Mr. Brown shook his free hand while I held the other. I looked at the people in front of us and saw the Angelo's looking at us with confused faces. Alexander noticed my confusion and kissed my temple and looked at me.

"You okay love?" He asked me and I nodded as he turned to the Angelo's, putting on his cold business face and stretched out his hand. They all stood up and shook his hand one by one until Roman Angelo was left as last.

"Alexander Elias." My brother said and Roman shook his hand firmly not before staring him down. His gaze flicked to our joined hands and my brother didn't miss it and pulled me closer to him.

Roman's gaze flicked back to Alex and then mine briefly before he pulled his hand away and turned to Mr. Brown, not taking his eyes off of me.

"I want her to sit next to me." Roman Angelo said and all of us looked at him shocked.

What?

Alex's hold on my hand tightened and his jaw clenched as he stared at Roman with an unreadable expression.

"Uh.. whatever you say Mr. Angelo. Do you mind Heather?" Mr. Brown turned to me and I glanced at Alex briefly who didn't say anything.

What's up with him?

"Um... no.. It's alright with me." I said and left Alex's hand. He looked at me confused but I gave him a reassuring smile.

"You're sitting there." I told him pointing to his seat which was across Enzo and he nodded.

"I'll see you at home later because I have some work to take care of." Alex said and I nodded.

"Okay.. I also have some things to take care of but I'll be back for much needed sleep." I said kissing his cheek briefly and he went to his seat, sitting down when I heard the clearing of a throat and saw Roman Angelo waiting for me.

I walked over to the other side of the table and he pulled out the chair for me, and I thanked him politely and sat down. He sat down right next to me, quite close though. Too close for comfort that's for sure.

I could smell his expensive cologne that invaded my senses as the food was laid out, so I tried to focus on the delicious dishes instead of the very handsome man next to me.

Boy he smells good.

We ate in silence and I knew Alex looked over at me quite a few times but I tried to ignore all the stares and looks thrown my way.

This was definitely not part of the plan.

"Heather." Mr. Brown called out to me suddenly and I dropped my fork with a jolt.

Shit.

"Uh- yes?" I said trying to collect myself.

"Are you alright?" He asked and I nodded furiously.

"Yes.. just a little jumpy." I said quickly and he nodded.

"Alright then.. You have to give Mr. Angelo here a tour of the college since he hasn't been here for a while. We were just talking about it." He said and I nodded slowly.

"Of course... Sorry, I must have zoned out." I apologized but he shrugged it off.

"After lunch then, you can take a look at the fair and the rest of the college too." Mr. Brown told Roman who just nodded once.

Our legs brushed against each other and I felt the same spark and my head whipped to Roman, who was already looking at me. We stared at each other for a few moments till my eyes flicked to the corner of his lips.

"Uh... you've got some sauce there." I said pointing to my lips and he looked at them, something flashing in his gaze as his gaze lifted and he nodded before wiping a corner of his lips. The wrong corner.

"It's the other side actually." I said and he looked at me for a few moments before before speaking.

"Could you get it for me?" He asked me suddenly and I swear the scraping of forks and knives stopped momentarily before continuing.

Did I hear that right?

"Um.. o-of course." I said and grabbed his napkin from his hand, our fingers brushing in the process and leaned towards him, focusing on his lips only and slowly wiped them with the napkin.

I could feel his burning gaze on me and for a brief second, I made the mistake of looking up into his beautiful emerald eyes, my breath hitching for a moment.

I stayed very still, both of us just looking into each to each other's eyes when I suddenly jolted when I heard a glass being placed on the table quite forcefully, might I add.

I quickly straightened up in my seat and my gaze flicked to Alex who who was holding the glass in his hand with a death grip. Roman noticed where I was looking and he too glanced at Alex briefly before smirking.

What was that?

My gaze moved to Jane who was looking at me with wide eyes but I smiled at her sheepishly and continued eating my lunch.

When we were done, I was the first one to get up because I just felt really suffocated, and walked towards Alex.

"I'll be back, don't leave without seeing me, okay?" I told him and he nodded, and I quickly went into the bathroom.

I splashed my face with water and stood there, leaning against the wall, calming down my very rapid beating heart.

What the hell just happened?

Wiping my face with a napkin, I put my game face on and walked out and back towards the dining room, where everybody was chatting among themselves. I was about to make my way to my seat when Olivia came into way and I stopped abruptly.

Seriously though, what is her problem?

"What now Olivia?' I said frustrated but she sneered at me.

"So you moved me from there so you could have Roman Angelo all to yourself huh? It's obvious I was competition to you." She said and I scoffed.

"You? My competition? You have got to be joking." I said chuckling but she grabbed my arm, rather painfully, her nails digging into my skin.

"You just wanted him all to yourself. You're such a whore running into the arms of one man and then flirting with another moments later." She sneered but before I could say anything, a voice spoke behind Olivia and I looked up and smiled.

"Let. Her. Go." Alex said furiously and Olivia immediately let go of me and turned to face Alex who came to me.

"You okay?" He asked me and I nodded. "Good. I have to leave now since I have a meeting but I'll see you at home." He kissed my forehead and glared at Olivia before leaving.

"Oh so you're fucking Alexander Elias now? You really do have a thing for filthy rich men. You're just a gold digger aren't you? I'll tell you what, stay away from Roman Angelo bitch." She sneered at me but I just folded my arms across my chest and sighed.

"Thanks for summing it up but I'll make it very clear to you. I am not into Mr. Angelo sweetheart so you can have him. I couldn't care less. I'm just doing my job so please, fuck off will you?" I told but her eyes were wide open staring behind me.

I felt a hand on the small of my back and felt a jolt of electricity go through my body. I looked back, my eyes widening at the person behind me.

Oh shit.

He heard me, didn't he?
