Chapter 55

Jo and Lucifer lie side by side on her bed, the only sound coming from their heavy breathing after such an intense "workout." They both stare up at the ceiling for a few moments, content, until finally, Jo speaks.

"That wasn't awful."

"Kinda like last time," Lucifer adds.

"Yeah, 'til, you had to do that thing with the thing."

"You mean that thing you were begging for?" he teases, looking over at her with a devilish smirk.

"Begging you to hurry it up, maybe," she replies in the same joking tone.

"Well, let's not argue about good sex."

She finally looks over at him. "It good, wasn't it?"

"Mm," he agrees.

They both look up at the ceiling again, lying together in a comfortable silence. Once again, it's Jo who breaks it after a few minutes.

"What's going on with us?"

He looks over at her again to see that her gaze is still on the ceiling.

"Well, am your master, and are my sex slave," he jokes.

She doesn't laugh, instead saying in a serious tone, "I mean it, Lucifer. What's going on here, with us?"

Lucifer doesn't answer immediately. He has two choices. He could try to build something new and beautiful with her...

Or he could make her feel like trash.

"What do you want me to say?" he asks. "That I love you? That I've been waiting for you to realize your true feelings for me?" He scoffs. "God, I forgot how delusional humanity is. There's going on here, Jo. I'm just looking for a good lay, and you seemed more than willing to comply. No strings attached, remember?"

She doesn't answer at first. Finally, she says sarcastically, "Well, don't sugarcoat it." She rolls her eyes. "And don't flatter yourself, Luce. I wasn't looking for anything more."

"Good."

"Good."

And silence.

And more silence.

And even more silence.

And another few hours of silence.

And cool, now they can leave!

In silence.

Obviously.

The two walk through the halls in, , silence, until they reach the war room. Michael looks over and gives them a smile. He had been standing alone by the wall, watching John, Mary, Bobby, and Ellen play poker, but somehow seemed to know exactly when they showed up. Archangel perks.

Jo walks over to him and leans against the wall with him to watch as well. Michael looks over at his brother, who meets his gaze for a moment, then looks around the room. His eyes land on Gabriel, still talking to Kali. He glances between his two brothers briefly, then goes over to stand by the wall as far from them as possible while still being in the same room.

Michael frowns. Well, that truce didn't last long.
