Chapter 189: Just The Facts

Olivia POV

The town car rolled along the paved road, taking us toward the courthouse. For better or worse, it was the beginning of the end, and we would soon know if Ellis would be coming home.

I couldn’t help but pretend that we were going off for a romantic vacation, to take my mind off the reality of the situation.

In the back of the town car, my head rested on Ellis’s strong shoulder. I felt the weight of the situation since he had been arrested.

He had taken things so casually, at least to me, that I’d never really considered what would happen if he couldn’t come home.

Ellis held me as I trembled at the thought, and I clung to him, as though it might keep him from being taken away from me until we got to the courthouse.

There was a crowd outside bigger than I could have imagined. Not only members from all the city’s media, from TV stations to newspapers and bloggers, there was also a good number of spectators there to see the circus.
