Jaxon
My phone rang as Sara picked up the first pregnancy test. I shot her a sheepish grin as her head whipped toward me.
"It's Eli, I need to get this," I told her apologetically as I stepped out of the bathroom and back into the bedroom.
"You need to come to your office right now," Eli said shortly when I answered, before hanging up.
"I have to go to my office," I called out to Sara as I left the room with a frown on my face. I had a bad feeling about this; I couldn't imagine why Eli needed to see me so urgently.
I jogged down to the office and found Eli standing by my desk when I opened the door, he had a grim expression on his face. He turned his head and looked down at my desk where I finally spotted a long gift box.
I shot Eli a puzzled look as I walked to my desk, gingerly pulling the lid off the gift box. Nestled inside a layer of tissue paper was a bouquet of long-stem black roses. There were no leaves on the stems but every single thorn was still there.
