Jaxon
My eyes were heavy and my head was aching, but I couldn’t bring myself to get up from the desk. I scoured over the papers and computer tabs I had opened. There were plenty of crimes and things the Frankie brothers had done, but none of it would stick, I knew that. None of it would be enough to force the hands of the corrupt cops the brothers had in their pocket. I sighed and kept looking.
I found a piece about a string of murders that happened recently in The Sacramento, one of their most high-profile night clubs. It was difficult to tie the murders directly to one of the brothers, but it still spoke volumes that it happened on one of their properties.
I was so focused on reading through the article and looking for something I could cling to that I didn’t notice Sara had walked into my office.
"How are you doing?" she cooed into the quiet space.
