I laced up my boots and tugged on my darker sweater. Jaxon came out of the bathroom dressed in his dark clothes, and I could tell from his expression the kind of people he was ready to face now. I hated to admit how sexy it was to see him looking so powerful and stoic.
I pulled my hair up in a ponytail and moved closer to him. He looked at me as if he didn’t fully register what he was seeing. There was no hint that he was a man with love and desire in his eyes now–only the malicious leader that controlled this city.
"What are you doing?" he asked, sounding really confused. He looked truly baffled like everything about me was a complete enigma to him.
I narrowed my eyes on him. "I’m going with you, obviously. You’re going to talk to people about the murders, and I want to come. I want to hear what people have to say."
I crossed my arms determinedly across my chest and stared at him hard.
