I paced behind Sam while he worked on breaking into the police website. He was struggling and getting frustrated. 


"Maybe we don’t have to do this the illegal way," I offered, mostly just irritated at the situation. 


"What do you mean?" Sam asked without turning around to look at me. He kept typing, and the sound was driving me up a wall. 


"I mean that report you have shows the leading detective on the case. Why don’t we just go talk to him in person? We can probably find out more information that way," I offered. 


Sam turned around and looked at me incredulously. I felt like a tiny moron with the way he stared at me. 


"Okay, you are married to Jaxon Deverouix, the king of the criminal world, and we are both very proficient in illegal activities. I mean you and I have both broken more than five laws today," he stated as if to offer more support that I was crazy.
